I think one or two in half hour is pretty quick anyway.
could always assembly line paint them.
So for example paint everything that needs brown on the first model then do the same on a second, third forth model etc.
Then by the time you get back to the first that would have dried and you can do everything that needs green etc

Pretty much what he said. But you could also quickly paint them in a cream/tan colar, give them a wash of brown, then go back through and pick out details, cloth, and highlight their feathers. It is a quick and simple way that gives decent results

Definitely look at a brown wash, it should pick out the details and textures nicely.

-In the future use spray primer the that is the main color of the models (Krylon Fusion or Army Painter).
-Pick 5 colors or less.
-Paint 5 to 10 models all the colors at one time (I say this because doing 60 models with one color at one go can wear on your nerves).
-Glob on Citadel's/GW's Shade paint (once called Wash) to bring out raised details and shade recessed areas at the same time. Earth color for a dirty look, black color for shadows. Let pool in recessed areas you want to look darker.
-Seal with a clear dullcoat.

I was able to crank out my kroot with out too much fuss, using a basic scheme.
1 - Primer white (spray).
2 - Base coat light green
3 - Paint leather (clothes and gun wrapping).
4 - Paint gun wood parts (alternative to leather)
5 - Paint gun metal parts / hooks etc.
6 - white highlights on quills on body and head and claws
7 - Eyes yellow or white
8 - brown wash (I used gryphonne sepia).
Done.
I used a fairly bright green (over a white primer) as the sepia wash darkened them a bit.

Drybrushing can greatly speed things up and make your models look excellent.

Quicker = lower quality. No way around it. That being said, there are plenty of ways you can drybrush/dip your base-coated models and get a halfway decent effect from a distance if you squint.
Otherwise, have you looked into having someone else paint your figures? There are plenty of mid skill-level artists out there who could probably crank out 64 figures pretty fast and still charge a fair price, and you'll get something slightly higher in quality than if you take the quickest routes.

This is very true....
There is a balance between speed and quality - the goal (as mentioned) is to find a way that gives you the quality you are willing to accept at the time investment you are willing (based upon technique...some of the things listed here) and able (based upon time/money) to accept.
best of luck, and show us some pics of your progress....

I painted the flesh in bestial brown, and the under belly part a lighter brown (forget the name) and then left the leather black and painted the wood of the gun scorched earth and the metal boltgun metal and then washed everything in devlan mud

I find the quickest way to paint anything is a white undercoat, a heavily watered down basecoat (to give some natural highlighting) and then a wash (to give shading).
But that said, if you can do 2 in half an hour that's already very fast.
These guardsmen took me 36 minutes each using the method I just described, the vast majority of that time (probably 25 minutes) was just doing the details...
Or you can look at my Skinks over on Lustria-Online where I described my speed painting method...
http://lustria-online.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6951
Obviously the skinks are purple and you may not want purple, but you can use the same technique with dirty greens and browns for kroot.
You could try dipping as well, but I personally find the most time consuming part of painting is the detailing. So if I swapped from washes like I use now to dipping, it wouldn't really save me much time as the actual "wash" step is quite quick anyway.
