scoring units can only hold one objective each. You need more scoring. period.

Fortification - Aegis line w/ comms relay

Same basic concept, but I swapped out one DC squad for a terminator squad, and replaced the scouts and techmarine with a guard platoon + guard command squad. Gives me 30 models starting on the field, with 4 autocannons behind the Aegis line. Seems more "thematic" too... a small Guard force, hopelessly outnumbered by the enemy... Look overhead, a flight of stormravens flys by, reinforcing the Guard position and saving the day.

Come on now, I thought this list was good

If I'm not mistaken, you wouldn't be able to play it as is without having at least the 2 Death Company units on the table. I say this due to the necessity of having no more than 50% of your army in Reserve.

If I'm not mistaken, that list is good to go. Stormravens NEED to be in reserves therefore do not count towards that 50%. That leaves 8 eligible units meaning 4 need to be deployed. Just so happens to be 4 units of guard.

Looks pretty good to me. I was a fan of the DC before 6th and I'm certainly still a fan now. No more being led around by devilfish for these chaps. yay!

I do have a genuine question though. Why power axes and bolters? I'm not at all disagreeing, I'd like to hear the rationale. I was thinking of using bolters on my own DC....>.>

Someone once told me this about Porsche Panameras:
"There are two Panamera's in my hood. Visual pepper spray. When Jesus was on the cross and cried out "Father, why have you forsaken me?" it wasn't because of the whole crucifixion, it was because he foresaw the design of the Porsche Panamera."
You learn something new everyday.

The bolters because the DC are relentless... they can rapid fire as they charge. It would help them deal with hordes. Also, it makes their overwatch attacks twice as deadly.

The axes, because I want to be able to gut terminators on the charge. 3 axes gives me 15 str6 AP2 attacks on the charge, at WS5... most things will die to this.

And yea, With the guard on the table, I should be able to hold everything else in reserve.

Didn't realize that relentless allowed you to charge and rapid fire, that actually makes bolters worth it!

As for the Axes. Aren't they at init1? Although I guess trading a few DC for a group of terms isn't that bad of a pay off.

I just so happen to have a bit of Vostroyan IG around the house, I think I will give this a shot.

They are init 1, but they're ap2, so they're capable of threatening 2+, not to mention you'd be wounding any MEQ on a 2+ if you get the charge.

Ok... I actually bought the guardsmen to make this list.

So its not theoretical anymore! I'll post back with results when I actually play it, though that won't be for at least a month or two... a lot of painting to do first.

Hope you don't mind me crahing in on your post. I thought your army looked sweet.

I played around with it to fit the only armies I have. Coteaz starts on table with the plasma + Jokaero squad and gives anyone landing within 12" an out of sequence plasma / melta suprise. The other 2 accolyte squads hide. This also brings a level 2 psyker into the list. What do you think?

HQ Astorath the Grim 220
Coteaz 100

Elite Assault Termies 4x hammer/ss, 1x claw 220

Troops 10 x Death Company 3x power ax, 7x bolters 245

10 x Death Company 3x power ax, 7x bolters 245

Henchman Warband 12
3 x Warrior Accolyte
Henchman Warband 12
3 x Warrior Accolyte
Henchman Warband 126
3 x Warrior Accolyte 4 x Plasma Gun
2 x Jokaero Weaponsmith

Heavy Stormchicken 200
Stormchicken 200

Aegis line w/ comms relay 70

Your list scares me man. Remember, if you have no models on the field, you lose the game.

Having only those few models on the table strikes me as a bad idea. Yea, I know they are hiding... but what if your opponent has indirect fire weapons? He only has to kill 1 guy to force morale checks from those small squads.

I think going with guard is probably a better idea, he's NOT going to kill all of them.

Updated my list yet again... interested in feedback.

30 guardsmen w/ a banner to re-roll morale behind an aegis line isn't really at risk of being shot off the board in 2 turns, and a rock hard assault element should help me win games

This list looks amazing, I play one similar to it now (more DC.) I defiantly want to try this list out. And Astorath now isnt some push over in CC, he is incredibly good in his own right.
