Considering tossing out my hellion death star in favour of another

Death star consists of 2 archons, farseer and 10 harlequins. To briefly summarize the awesomeness:
- 2 shadowfields to absorb shooting and combat wounds
- rerollable saves with fortune
- entire unit receives hit and run, night vision, stealth, shrouded & fleet special rules. can use hit and run to advance toward the enemy very quickly.
- 2+ save in cover and 4+ save in the open
- psychic defense
- loads of rending and power weapon attacks
- plenty of harlequin characters to accept challenges on behalf of archons and farseer
- archons will hopefully place many precision strikes with 8 pw attacks each on the charge against enemy characters and become close combat nightmares with soul-trap

Then we have a solid dark eldar list to back it. Let me know what you think. Could make the death star much crazier by adding eldrad, malys and vect instead of the base HQ characters but then it just becomes too expensive.

I should also be clear that the harlequins are from the eldar force organisation chart and are therefore eldar units, making the entire unit (archons included) able to be fortuned by the farseer.

Sorry can't disclose.....infiltrating

i was waiting for someone else to stumble upon the potential, myself run eldar main with dark eldar as allies, sorta works out as a superfriends type of deal with a eldrad dedicated to divination leading 10x wraithguard (gives super guide, overwatch and 4++) farseer with fortune, and vect for all his funness (though im considering a downgrade to archon to save points) match foward with vect leading the way with 2++ reroll, with 4++ wraithguard behind that to tear up anything that gets near.

although instead of 3x ravanger I'd really consider some razorwings for anti air as thats where trouble will come since you lack volume of fire,

Quick note-you get a kiss on the troupe master for free, and the death jester can not take a harlequins kiss.

Spend the 8 points to get haywire grenades for one of the cons, or something.

Not sure how effective the con's are gonna be in CC, a S3 power weapon is still S3. Killing an MC is almost impossible, and an IC will be difficult(T4 or more, 2+ and 3 or 4++). I would go venom blades and haywires, but that is preference. YMMV.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

I factored in that the troupe master gets his kiss for free, but I didn't know that you couldn't take a kiss on a death jester. thanks for the clarification there

Still trying to find out the best use for soul-trap in 6th edition.

Haywire grenades will be useful and I will invest in those.

I can see the effectiveness of venom blades for wounding MCs. However I'm not sure if another weapon would be more suited for IC killing.

@arthas367 - that sir, is very lol worthy. brilliant combo.

Anyway I'm going to try it out soon and see if these harlequins and archons and such do better than the hellions with my list.

Are you sure that the entire unit gets hit and run?

If you are taking a farseer you NEED doom. Also, im not convinced reavers with lances are good in this edition. vehicles are less common and thats pretty much the only things these hunt well for the points.

grab doom on farseer with spirit stones. Alternately, grab eldrad for some real psychic mayhem. If you dont grab eldrad, farseer NEED singing spear since they nerfed wytchblade armor pen. Singing Spear are in the codex though, which have different rules.
drop some reavers, grab a unit of 3x war walkers with cannons (18 S6 shots for 120 pts)
add a cannon to the guardian bikes
use power weapon on troupe master, drop death jester

finally, remember that the faq did NOT remove the 2d6 spotting distance for harlequins. It says to replace the 3rd and 4th sentence with stealth and shrouding, however the 5th sentence says you roll 2d6 for spotting. Harlies got a HUGE buff which they kind of needed. With the huge nerf to genestealers i think harlies are now the top tog in assault units for the cost.
