So i just got the DAY Z mod for ARMA II and it seems like a decent amount of works gone ito it, sadly though ive only beeen able to make it run for about 15 or so minutes before it crashes hardbar.

Anyone who does play got any good stories/ experiences? In the 15min i managed to have DAY Z running i found a machete, a zombie instantly decided to proceeded on eating my brain as soon as i picked up the machete, so round 2 for me.

Anyone else play ARMA II and or use the DAY Z mod? Going to try the story and see how it is until i can figure out how to get DAY Z working properly.

WAAAHG!!! until further notice

If you enjoy day z, search for wasteland. Excellent mod and it's similar to day z just not quite as frustrating and generally more vehicles.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

I will have to give that one a search. Just did the boot camp training and i found out i should never be trusted with any form of air craft.....

Aircraft in ARMA II are notoriously difficult to fly.

Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.

There is also a desyncing issue with DayZ which means that getting in a helicopter is effectively suicide.

I have been playing this mod for a good few months now. No outstanding stories really though I do have a couple of memorable deaths.

The first one saw me use up all my bandages on 3 consequitive zombies (they kept making me bleed) and I was forced to run about a mile to the nearest likely bandage spawn location (constantly eating meat on route to keep my blood up) and eventually fall unconcious and bleed out literally on a loot pile containing a bandage. That was my most frustrating death (that wasn't caused by a bug).

My 'best' death was due to another player and it was done in a fashion far removed from the largely meaningless deathmatch that is the bean wars on the coast.

I was skirting the western edge of the map heading for a base that had been set up by a group I know and I was looting deer hides on the way (they spawn mid tier military grade weapons). They are normally pretty safe as they are quite remote, but I did a quick sweep of the area anyway finding nothing but a couple of wandering zombies and there was some loot in the stand, I couldn't see what it was unfortunately, so I make my way up the ladder. The actual loot was a single Makarov mag and a bandage which was a little strange as they are not the sort of thing that you expect to find in deer hides; just as I was thinking that I was sniped in the head.
Someone had looted the hide and left some decoy 'loot' there and then had moved far enough away to stay out of sight but not far enough away to cause the zombies and loot to despawn and simply waited.

By far the best way to play this mod is to avoid the coastal cites, they are only good for camo clothing, ghillie suits, blood bags and endless frustration. Head inland and loot the towns in the mid eastern portion of the map, you will live a lot longer, and once you have built up some experience and confidence you can start thinking about airfield raids, the north eastern one at Krasnostav is usually fairly safe while the main airfield is death unless you are in a group or you really know what you are doing.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

I've been playing Dayz with a group of 3-6 people and let me tell you, its much safer and easier to loot populated areas than going it alone. Although its generally much less stealthy so if you're going for that approach I recommend a group of 3 or less.
