Hey all,
Starting a simple log to chronicle my creation of a Pre-Heresy World Eaters force, I'll also have some other random projects creep in from time to time whenever I need to take a break from the World Eaters. So without further adieux, lets get started!
So far this is the test scheme I have for the army:
and here is the first Assault Marine build (minus jetpack and shoulder guards, these are left off for ease of painting)

No its white, the lighting is a little off bc I only have two lights for my photo box, the wife just went to the store and she's picking up a 3rd  so I'll try to get a couple other shots.

thank you, the effect is achieved by first painting the splatter using Vallejo Game Color Red Gore, then painting the center areas of the splatters and any recesses where blood would have congealed thickly a 1:4 mix of VGC Black/ VGC Gore Red, and finally painting the splatter area with a coat of gloss varnish to give it a wet, fresh look. I'm excited to see the results, color scheme looks good and I like the mix of CSM bits to add a bit more of that World Eaters element in there. Looking forward to seeing more work

So for those of you hungering for an update, here you go. The first legionary of 1st Squad the 3rd Assault Company, XII Legion.
I'm trying not to go overkill on the blood effects, I know the world eaters are shock troops but the 'swimming in pools of blood' look gets a little cliche for World Eaters and I'd like to move away from that. What do you guys think?

Really nice, I think you white is just right. Ive seen World Eaters with the gleaming white, I dont think it matches with the Legions personae. he blue is a perfect shade too. As far as the blood, its good. It looks kinda like a spray pattern that has dripped.

Thanks, I agree, so many World Eaters schemes I see are far too 'pure' white, and I wanted a slightly off-white that would convey the rugged-ness of the Legion. I went through several tests with the white, I finally settled on a 3 color base coat using VMA US Grey, VMA US Light Grey, and a 1:15 Mix of VMA US Light Grey and VMA White using an airbrush with a final highlight of pure VMA White.

Another update, 4 more marines built and ready to prime, plus my chaotic workspace. In case you hadn't noticed I'm modifying the whole army to be "tall scale" I hate that guardsmen are the same height as Space Marines on the tabletop, I want my super-humans to look like damn super-humans.

thank you, glad to know I hit my mark. I was aiming for arterial sprays that made it look like they were chopping people down with a quickness, not waiting through fountains of gore. I'm trying to portray a look of efficient savagery with the army, they're brutal but only enough to get the job done in as short a time with the maximum shock value.
