Hey Dakka.

I wonder, has anyone found any alternative models for the frankly ugly (IMO) high elf spearmen and archers?

If you think they're ugly, I'm afraid of what you think Mantic elves would be....

What parameters do you have? Plastic, metal, resin? Do they have to be elves? Etc?

A common albeit expensive option I've seen people do is use Phoenix Guard as spearmen by clipping the wings off the helmets and the blades off the halberds to use as spears. Then buy the shield sprues and bam.

I've seen PG legs used for archers but can't remember what they used for torsos and heads. I'll see if I can find them. Another option is to use the plastic 5th edition archers which have helmets and a little armor, but are unipose.

Buy a tonne of LSG from the IoB set off of Ebay.

Nice 2 piece and they look great.

you could. There are a few problems there.
First, unipose which kinda sucks.
Second, they come in sets of 10 but always include command, so any you buy after the first 10 you are really getting 7 models for the unit.
Third, Sea Guard units cost almost the same per model(assuming 7 models) as a box of 10 regular PG, granted you don't have to buy shields for them.
Fourth, Sea Guard have the quivers all over them.

I never considered this, I may give it a shot, as I want this to be an aesthetically pleasing army, so money isn't as much of an issue. Cheers!

That's also a great idea... some minor conversion work and HE runes could do the trick.
