Hey guys, Im looking at putting together a 1250 pt list to play at game nights. Though I want it to be fluffy. The army will be from scratch so all Ideas are welcome. I plan on using contemptor models for regular dreads and a vindicator or 2. Sternguard will definitely be in as well.

I've been planning the same thing but I'm not too sure about their fluff but aren't they the siege marines and rivals to the iron warriors? Give em vindicators and thunder hammers?

That was the plan, I was hoping to run 1250 pts, trying to fit that in is tough without lacking something else

They actually concentrate more on defense against sieges as I recall so a fluffy Imperial Fist List in 6th should probably be taking some fortifications of some sort.

Of course Lysander should be in Imperial Fist lists if you can fit him in points wise and teaming him up with a Tactical or Sternguard Squad makes sense with his Bolter Drill rules.

Contemptor's are lovely models andseem to fit the fluff for the Imperial Fists as well when kitted with the autocannons.

Vindicator's too seem to work with their fluff and are a good choice in my opinion.

They are masters of siege warfare including attack and defence. so I could also see assault terminators with the HQ I choose

To make a fluffy list, 1250 is a bit small...

Valid though it is the points for game night at the local gw store.

Hmmm alright...If you want to go total fluff, Lysander is a good HQ
Failing him (for the point cost), the MotF is an excellent Imperial Fists HQ.
Troops: Going to want to take Tac marines with long range fire power
Elite: Sternguard are very fluffy, TH/SS termies are also a good fluff choice if expensive
Fast Attack: May as well disregard this area for the Fists
Heavy: TF cannons are very seige themed...

To sum it up, from those choices you should pick the cheaper things just to fit it in. My idead of IF are that, they are not very mobile and pump out lots of firepower.
This could be wrong, take with a grain of salt.

I like, gonna play around with that than. Can even do a captain Tialo in Contemptor armor.

Good base for a master of the forge? I checked the bits and the body is nicely seperate so I could add a thunder hammer along with imperial fist shoulder pad.

Very nice, always wanted one of those. One thing though, he is armed with a conversion beamer, so I would magnetize the beamer (if possible) as well as the arms so that you can switch with TH setup and beamer setup.

Its not like I plan on astral claws anytime. Though I will consider the conversion beamer. Thoughts on thunderhammer and combi melta? Can I even do that? Don't have space marine code yet

You can do the TH/combi-melta combo, however for someone that does not have an invul and would then have to get up close to use those two weapons, I don't think this is a sound plan. Also, the MotF is 20 points less for the conversion beamer, which at long range is nasty. Just switch out the shoulders for IF and the conversion beamer should be fine!

Yeah ok, Though im not sure what to do with his hands if he has the beamer, considering he has those whips.

He does have a 2+ rerollable for artificer armor anyway. I figure it would be a good layout for a siege style bunker buster marine.

It would be...But I am going to ask where does the rerollable come from?

I am mistaken, I thought artificer gave one wound reroll, but its just a 2+ save

I dislike Lysander, the bolter drill is average and stops lysander from assaulting the enemy.

If you want fluff:
Lysander with a dev. squad with 4 heavy bolters in a fortress of redemption with 4 more heavy bolters.
This should shot down aircraft well enough if not infantry.

Telion+snipers on the battlements, to have an awesome cover save.

Then can thundercannons go inside or on top.
Combat squads in the other three av14 sections else more snipers.
Stuff like that.

290 fortress
200 lysander
230 Telion and snipers
75 snipers.
214 9 dev. squad with 4 heavy bolters
100 cannon
100 cannon
Nearly fits?

Why not just stick him with Tac Terminators then? They have storm bolters

Absolutely impossible at 1250pts but:

Lysander + Valthex + Full Tactical Termie squad = absolute death of anything on foot (Hellfire rounds on storm bolters + re-roll to hit...)!

You guys are trying to build a 2k list..Lysander is way too high for this point level.

Yes, that is what I would think is best. The theory of sternguard assumes never assaulting with Lysander and always shooting their bolters. But then this squad isn't that great either.
