It was my understanding that:

a) battle brothers can be scoring units
b)allies of convience can be scoring units
c)desperate allies can not be scoring units

Am I right?

No you are incorrect.

"An army's scoring units are normally all the units that come from the troops selection of the Force Organisation" P.123

So all three kinds of allies are scoring units.

Actually Deathreaper, he's partly right. The Desperate allies has a rule that units from that allied detachment are non-scoring non-denial units. The original army still scores, but the allies do not.

First, that brings nothing to the discussion, and second actually he's more right than wrong. So who didn't read the book?

Indeed. I read pg. 112 of the BRB after someone told me that allies of convenience can't be scoring units so was just confirming here that my original thought was right and only desperate allies could not be scoring or contesting units. The wording is indeed a bit vague as allies of convenience are treated as enemies that can't just be charged, shot or targeted with psychic powers deliberatelly. On the rule of desperate allies it also adds that they can't be scoring and there's the "one eye open" rule on top of that. So my conclusion is that battle brothers and allies of convenience can be scoring units.
