Gamers come in all shapes and sizes. That also say some hysterical things. Over the weekend I heard some real gems come out of people's mouth. Here is a list

"The rules are just there as guide lines and to open to interpretation."
- he was serious and talking about 40k

"Fighters were the worst class in 3.5 D&D. Druids were the best. All you had to do was turn into a dire ape and grapple."
- I asked him if he knew what close quarter fighting was afterwards.

"Warmahordes seems fun but there is so much you have to memorize about the other player's army."

"I heard They're going to prop up 6th edition in a year again by releasing the unnamed 10th legions of Chaos and Loyalist. Chaos will probably be devoted to the 5th god."

What laughable things did you hear recently?

To be fair, big units of slaves ARE awesome, but one unit? Yeah... no.

I dropped into a local GW crèche, er store the other day for the first time in a long time to look at the miniatures in the cabinet. I'd been in there less than a minute before someone was arguing about who had the right to ban some kid from the store.

That made me smile.

Well, rules are rules, you cant say they are "just a guide-line" unless you clear it first. Its fine to house rule anything you like beforehand, but you cant just say that gak half way through a game.

On the other hand, if you went by Rules As Written all the time you'd end up with nonsense like YMDC. "Oh your stormraven's guns can't pivot down? YOU CAN'T SHOOT THEM AT GROUND TARGETS THEN HARHAHHAR". The truth is somewhere betwen the two...

The rules are whatever two consenting players agree that they are.

Take a look at the discussion ongoing in tournament discussion sub-forum in which many parts of the 6th edition rules are planned to be ommitted/altered/changes for tournament play.

Wasn't in my FLGS, but my house is the closest thing me and my friends have to a FLGS, so here goes.

Once, at 4:AM when most of us were asleep, one of my friends remarked in his sleep that his Eldar should watch out for my Leman Russ.

It was the most hilarious thing in the world at the time.

About a year or so after the release of 4th ed 40K my mate and I were scanning through the latest White Dwarf and talking about how terrible it was, when we overheard some kids talking. Only one of them seemed to be collecting, but his mates were really interested. He was collecting Space Marines, of course, and was telling the other kids about the tournament he was going to play in a month or so. He was saying how this one special character was totally awesome, and had four wounds (so I'm guessing it Marneus Calgar), that if he bought him he would definitely win the tournament, netting $50. So for him it was all about spending $20, or whatever it was, to win $50.

Warhammer as a profit making game.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”
