Subject: wyches or harlequins?

I'm writing an army list and am wondering which of these 2 would be a good choice.
I realise they don't truly stack against each other as ones troops, the others elites, but if we take it down to basic points cost and stat lines whatare your thoughts?
Harlequins are 18 points eac
Wyches are 10
Harlies get 2 attacks base
Wyches get 1
Harlies have a 5++ against everything
Wyches have a 6+/4++, with eventual fnp save
Both have just one wound, though you can field more wyches for the points cost
Harlies have shuriken pistols (s4?) and a bs of 5
Wyches have a bs of 4 though wound everything on 4s
I can't decide which is the better unit to take, wdyt?

Wyches are cheap troops and scoring in all scenarios. They can take haywire grenades which pretty much marks what ever vehicle they hunt for death with any three non-one rolls. Wych weapons are good too, Hydra gauntlets in MSU's will super inflate your attacks per group and Shardnets in tarpitting groups will drive your opponents up the wall as you lock their deathstar in CC for the whole game. They require transport though because they only have a 6+ they cannot take hits with out cover.

Good point on the haywires.
I'd left weapon options out of it initially to focus on the cost benefit of each unit type.
Are Harlies worth the extra 8 points?
I'd only be using these in a small 500 point game, and am thinking that the higher number of wyches I could take would probably win out for a greater number of wounds on the table

Wyches are infinitely better and more versatile in my opinion.
The fact that you have to foot-slog harlies really hurts them. And you have to really kit them out for them to be effective.
Wyches are cheap and killy. Youll more than make up for the one less attack with more bodies. And razor-flails/hydra-gauntlets of course.

If your having a small game, then its no contest. Wyches are pretty good CC killers - not as good as last edition but still very good, they kill tanks easily now with haywires, and are much cheaper, and become pretty scary with combat drugs and a couple of pain tokens
Harlies have a use, but they are expensive and really don't survive for DE, well now they may be better but only if you back them with a farseer. And never benefit from Power from Pain

Harlies cant get shot like wyches which explains their point cost.
They have 2+ cover saves from shooting thanks to Stealth + Shrouded but whats worse is that you can only shoot them if you can see them in the first place (shadowseer).
If you are playing eldar, you shouldnt even be considering wyches because:
1.) Eldar has fire dragons for anti tank.... what the hell do you need haywire for?
2.) Tarpitting enemies is not the way of the eldar. It's about maximizing damage in a single turn. Wyches will not synergize much with an eldar army.
Harlequins are good for providing mobile cover to other units, and are good for countercharging other threats.
Also note that Harlequins are relatively tougher thanks to Eldar psychic powers which, IIRC, the wyches cant have.
Bottomline is, you might be taking wyches for the wrong reasons. Though I can say that the harlequin has very limited use as well.

There are 2 kinds of Dakka members: People who just think the game and people who actually play the game. Which one are you? |

I'm a DE player Yuber, so I'm looking them as a direct option from the codex as opposed to as allies.
Thanks for the feedback so far folks.
Some further info - my selection will be used in a zone mortalis game, so I don't have to worry about 360 degrees of LOS for my enemies; I can keep running towards them until I get stuck in.
However, I've just realised I can't take Harlies as the game I'm involved in doesn't allow 2+ armour saves, so that answers that one if they're not even an option!
Thanks lol!
