I kind of want to replace the bikes with another squad of Marines (or maybe some Scouts), but basically the whole idea is to use the Vindicators and Land Raider to spearhead and jam down their throats (or deny them the chance to jam down mine). Vulkan and the Hammer Brothers do their thing, and the Assault marines can back them up if needed.

I feel like I'm kinda short on anti-infantry though with only 4 flamers, a twin-linked heavy bolter, and Vulkan's heavy flamer.

The Bikes are there because I had them from the original 3rd edition Salamanders and it looked like SM Bikes were going through a renaissance.

As for unit choices, I do have an old (unbuilt) LRC I can put together, but the regular LR is already painted and just needs the multi-melta assembled/painted.

If you remove the bike squad and the extra armor on everything but the Land Raider (because you don't need it) you would have another 200pts. Plenty to get another squad of something.

Also, you should upgrade the power fist in the assault squad to the thunder hammer. It's only 5 points and it'll be master crafted as well.

As for anti infantry, don't forget you have a lot of marines and they all have bolters, and bolters kill stuff and two vindicators is kinda anti everything especially now that it has large blast barrage back.

Main reason the AS Sergeant doesn't have a TH is because I'll need to find a SM sized TH for him (which I have some ideas on...)

Going with the TH, that'll leave me with 195 points to play with. While this would be the cost of a no frills SM squad, I'm uncomfortable having them hoof it.

That leaves me with Scouts being the best option, so sniper scouts it is I guess, updated list incoming.

There's an awesome marine sized thunder hammer in the Iron Hands conversion kit.

PF on sergeants is weaker now, you'll get chewed up often before you can strike.

I've never felt the need for assault marines on top of Vulkan + TH/SS termies. I'd rather drop the ASM and bikes and pick up a land raider and another troop.

Having only two scoring units in half the missions is real slim for 1850 points, especially considering their rhinos are easier to kill. And now, rhinos are an easy first blood to boot, often giving up a few vp to the enemy.

Turns out I was screwing myself to the tune of 40 pts. I've double checked the math multiple times and have no idea where it came from and went so I ended up with a lot more room than I thought:

Additional thoughts:

Yeah, I know Rhinos are risky in the current environment, the hope is to draw as much fire as possible on the Vindicators & Land Raider. The Assault Marines give me a bit of a quick response anti-infantry, and the Sergeant is equipped to (hopefully) take care of himself if he gets challenged.

Extra armor isn't really worth the points anymore.

I don't like so many points being spent on a single wound model usually, especially with no extra toughness than another power armor marine. I'd probably drop the meltabombs and thunder hammer to a power sword if you're expecting them to be anti-infantry anyways.

Other than that it looks good.

Thanks, the big problem I run into is what to do with points when I'm down to 30-40 and have given out the necessary upgrades.

I guess hypothetically I could give the sergeants in the Tac squads combi-weapons (combi-flamers would probably be amusing), but otherwise my options are literally...pintle storm bolters.

Pintle-mounted storm bolters isn't actually as awful as it sounds, at least now in 6E. Since weapon destroyed results are now random, they can get the weapon destroyed results instead of the cannons on the vindicators.

I would try attack bikes as the fast option. T5 is a lot hard to instant kill.
I would still give the squads meltaguns and maybe combimeltas, as tanks are more common, and then you bolters for infantry.

Personally I like to include some long range threat with Vulkan, but you want to just get close and I am a wimp.

Flyers: Stormtalons may just be a requirement nowadays, else some sort antiflyer gun. Now it just so happens squadrons of attack bikes are pretty great with Vulkan at downing aeroplanes. You can move fairly fair, then snap shot with TL, then a hit with a MM should make them decide to fall out the sky. OK ignore stormravens and stormtalons antimelta paint.
