heavy weapons teams with autocannons, missile launchers and lascannons?

what is the best?

i think missiles are

they can adapt to targets for for 90 points for 3 missiles i think they are a great price and i would use them any day over a leman russ which is about 190 points... i could get 6 missiles instead!

I've seen great results out of autocannons. Missiles don't give me anything that Russes don't already bring. Lascannons are too pricey for BS3 IG unless you're using Orders to twin-link them.

I usually run 2 or 3 Russ's so i opt for AC or HB teams, fills the gap of anti infantry, will also be useful with the new flier rules. Just fire as many shots as physically possible!!

I prefer autocannons, because 2 shots at Str 7 is better than 1 at Str 8. If we get Flakk missiles I will have to re-evaluate.

As with anything in the 'Guard, why take one when you can take three?
If you're going for heavy weapon squads you'll need more than one. Let them hang out with the CCS for orders.

What Leman Russ are we talking about here? The most expensive one is 190 base, but that's not an accurate comparison. I would say that the Regular Russ with a lascannon and Heavy Bolter sponsons.

You take the Missle Launchers and I'll take the Leman Russ. Let's see who wins

Anyways, I prefer Autocannons over the other two. Good AP, good strength, good range, two shots. Not bad. Missle Launchers for me are the middle ground between Lacannons and autocannons (because they literally are I suppose). The only reason I even use Missle Launchers is because you can make them from the Heavy Weapons team box at the same time as mortars and autocannons.

I use almost exclusively autocannons and mortars.

Missile launchers have been of dubious use for awhile now for guard, as they've always had the option to take autocannons or lascannons instead. The reason you hear so much about missile spam for long fangs probably has to do with the fact that they can't take autocannons.

The same is true now. Lascannons just got better with its Ap2 actually mattering against vehicles, and now that cover has gotten worse, and now that you have fewer Ap2 options, what with power weapons evaporating from your lists. Autocannons just got much, much better, now that you can glance vehicles to death.

Meanwhile, the missile launcher has stayed the same. With Ap3, it's now stuck in the role of glancing vehicles to death, but with 1 shot, it's not going to do that all that quickly or effectively. Meanwhile, against heavier infantry, the missile launcher loses out against new plasma, and against light infantry, the frag missile has never been terribly effective against opponents who know what displacement means.

Really, all heavy weapons in the imperial guard just got better EXCEPT the missile launcher. I'd pass on this for options that are actually good against what they're designed to be good against.

My usual IG opponent loves to spam the missiles. It wreaks havoc amongst my tau suits, and my tyranid warriors and MCs (seriously, wounding on a 2 with no save? That makes me one sad panda.)

Ordering them twin linked to ensure hits also increases the pain.
