When tossing grenades into fireing points and onto battlements when assaulting a building, do you need to roll to hit, or are they assumed to be autohits since building is ws 0?

My opponent argued that you would need some skill to hit the fireing slits or toss a nice arc onto the roof, so I rolled to hit the last game I played, But rereading the rules today im not so sure anymore. What do you guys think?

It is a close combat attack, not a shooting attack.

As Nosferatu said, it's a close combat attack. Relevant rules:

Grenades against buildings, page 94 5th topic, "Grenades" and

Grenades against battlements, page 96 under "Assaulting the Battlements".

I have found again and again that in encounter actions, the day goes to the side that is the first to plaster its opponent with fire. The man who lies low and awaits developments usually comes off second best. - Erwin Rommel
"For having lived long, I have experienced many instances of being obliged, by better information or fuller consideration, to change opinions, even on important subjects, which I once thought right but found to be otherwise." - Benjamin Franklin
