Like as not your army list but the models that you own in total.
How would you count the points up?
By minimum?(no upgrades) or maximum(all the most expensive upgrades)?

I'm personally using minimum but I see some people say they like to max out the possible one.

40K:
5000+ points W/D/L: 10/0/6
4000+ points W/D/L: 7/0/4
1500+ points W/D/L: 16/1/4

Fantasy
4000+ points W/D/L: 1/1/2
2500+ points W/D/L: 0/0/3

Most of my models have standard-issue wargear. For example my DP always has Gift of Chaos and Warptime so with the wings which are modeled and the MoT, he is always 205 points.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

I go by the upgrades I would use in a normal (ie non Apoc) game.

I do both the max and the min and then average it out.

I do it by model, myself. If I have a guardsman with a missile launcher, he costs 20 points, because a guardsman costs 5 points and his upgrade costs 15. I only include upgrades that I actually use, though, so I don't count wargear (unless I actually use it), rather than inflating up to the maximum possible amount.

This doesn't give me a number of the largest possible army I could field (I have lots of special weapons that wouldn't have a home, for example), but I don't think that's what most people are talking about when listing points values for their army.

I'm lucky enough to play Guard, a codex in which almost every points value is a multiple of 5, so I can sometimes calculate it mentally. When I can't do that, I break out the calculator.

289th Descaal Janissaries: around 2kpts
(no games played so far)
Imperial Fists 4th company (Work In Progress)
Warhost of Biel-Tan (Coming Soon!)

By my usual loadout.

I generally run my units with the same loadouts, and do the math accordingly.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Generally by what they are equipped with, sans 'upgrades'. So a devil gaunt is 10 points for the gaunt plus gun, but without toxin sacs and adrenal glands.
