Let's say a Stormraven comes flying in on turn 2 carrying a Furioso Dreadnought. The opposing player gets a little lucky and blows the thing up on his turn. My question is: what happens to the Dreadnought? It's either one of 3 scenarios:

1) The Dreadnought takes a strength 4 hit on its rear armor as described in the codex.
2) The Dreadnought takes a strength 10 hit as described in the rulebook...but where? Front? Rear?
3) The Dreadnought takes both a strength 4 and a strength 10 hit

Unless its a wreak. Since the Codex only says if the SR explodes does it take a str 4 to the rear armor. If it wreaks I say it takes a str 10 to the rear.

I'm not attacking you, but can you explain why you think the strength 10 hit goes to the rear armor?

Since the codex says the str 4 hit will go to the rear, it set a president for the hit to roll to pen against rear armor. Thats why. Its not RAW, or even RAI really since there is no rules covering it. Just using whats already in the rules as a guideline for something that's similar.

Either way, its bad for the Dread.

Don't carry stuff in Ravens. They die when stuff explodes.

By that logic you should never have anything but footslogging armies.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

Page 81, left side of page, last paragraph, Crash and Burn. The passengers on a flier only take a S10 hit if the flier is zooming when it is shot down. This applies if the flier is wrecked or exploded. The S4 hit on the rear armor is only if the flier is in hover mode. Since the rear armor is used when other vehicles are exploded it would stand to reason that it would apply to the zooming flier. Thus is because when the vehicle hits the ground and explodes it takes a hit from all sides, with the rear usually being the weakest you go with the weakest link so to speak.

What if the storm raven has a nose down angle? Does the dreadnought still take the hit on the rear armor?
