If you play Marines... contrary to popular belief there are other armies out there besides Space Marines... Like Orks, Eldar, Tau, Imperial Guard, Chaos Daemons... you know some people might want to start those as well.

Saying that this is the best starting army is pretty narrow minded...

My favorite starter army: the orks from AoBR. I think i have three sets of them, soon to be four. They're very cost efficient and expandable, which cant be said for your army.

Add two rhinos 3 vindicators and you have very reasonable if esoteric and unbalanced list.
Then 3 stormtalons.
Then telion and sniper scouts
Then we'll change to a librarian as HQ
Then comes 3 rifles dreads.

It is a good starting point.

I still think AoBR orks are the best starting army.
Else Draigowing if you can get good advice on tactics.
