IF you don't see too many cannons, then try it out. I know in my neck of the woods, I would be facing several cannons so I would personally use more foot troops. Also look out for tar pit units such as skaven slaves where they tie you up with a unit that is half points of another unit and then they shoot the heck out of it, flank it, or otherwise put a ton of combat resolution on the beast. You may be able to inflict a couple of wounds, but a skillful enemy will have an answer to these beasts. When it comes to the Rare choices, I've had more success with the Bone Giant than the Necrosphinx as you will have an easier time with the tar pit units as you can hit them fairly easy, wound them, and attack again and again...

My play style is different from yours though as I like more foot troops with any army I play (the exception being WoC - as I primarily use just warriors, knights and dogs).

I have to say that I often don't see Skaven played (apart from one Lord Skrolk army and that's all plague monk based)

I have to say that I love playing the refused flank so essentially all this will be hitting a single flank at once/ in two waves

While Spinx-spam is a legitimate army choice and occasionally brilliant, I actually have more issue with your Hero selection. The Prince on foot is frankly useless without a block of Warriors or Tomb Guard, while the Icon Bearer is not good enough to justify the cost. The Chariot Prince is slightly more usable but still hideously expensive for very little output.
If I were you I would simply drop the 3 heroes and pump the points into a second High Priest or some Necroknights. You could even go for a 6th Sphinx as a Prince mount.

The Tomb Herald, yes I will agree with you he is a waste of points, however the two princes so far have done wonders in the list, pretty suprising for my opponant when they managed to get a unit of KoTR past my chariots and sphinx's to charge the archer block to find that they're attacking WS6 archers and got a faceful of return attacks, the Prince is in the unit to add a bit of severely required damage to the unit, the chariot prince is far more useful I would agree and I do tend to find the same thing with him, when the flaming unit of chariots (with Prince) charge a Hydra I do fine with the impact hits but have found a few times that the crew cannot wound it as well in the resulting rounds hence the GW toting prince, thankfully in that game I gave both princes the 2++ fire save and just popped my LHP out the back before the combat started effectively I'm running him with no ward.

I am currently looking at dropping the Herald and a Mus from the Flaming Chariots which will give me 177 points to play around with, which should get me a nice couple of units of Carrion to help target warmachines (who are the target for my Necrosphinx's HKB so I can turn things around a little quicker)

I like the list, I generally run the prince with archers in horde with necotect as a combat unit. I usually use the Armour of Destiny, but your set up is good. I think the dropping of the herald, and muso should allow you to take a lvl 2 of light, and either carrion or horse archers. Because Pha's and Birona's have pretty awesome syngergy with this list.

I might try a Necrotect in with the Archers now that you mention it, I'd not considered the idea. I'll have a play around with the list and see what I can do, I might drop it down to 4 Sphinx's

For some reason I can't link it but check the TK forums: http://tomb-kings.net/ go to battle report and check the thread 2500 Kitty Invasion!, sorry for the wait, by Dbunibe. He takes 6 to great success, I would not want to see skaven, empire or dwarfs on the other end of the table though.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

I went for a similar list awhile ago. I had a very large problem with Empire cannons.

The Carrion and the Necrosphinx's got into the backfield in the 2nd turn and managed to take out 3 cannons (Overran into the 3rd) and 2 Volley Guns (HKB) which made my life easier, for some reason he didn't go for Lore of Light (thankfully) but instead it turned into a Throne of Vines Flesh to Stone grindfest with the Sphinx's and the Spearmen trying to out grind each other in combat. My biggest issue at the moment is actually Orcs and Goblins as there are just SO many units on the table that it's difficult to prioritise which units to target and when
