I am wondering if it is a bad idea to get an army of Blood Angels because the 6th edition of Warhammer 40k just came out. So should I wait for the 6th edition of Blood Angels to come out?

You would be waiting quite some time since they have a fairly recent codex. You are fine to get them right now.

Yeah, I really doubt BA will get a new codex this edition. They are only 3(4?) codexs back. All of their special toys still work and because they are a marine army the new rules didn't really do a thing to nerf them in any meaningful way.

See pics of my Orks, Tau, Emperor's Children, Necrons, Space Wolves, and Dark Eldar here:

Codex is years away so dont wait, a great way to start is the battle forces even though they just raised the prices.

BA are still amazing. Their little black guys, whatever they are called, went from having to charge everything in sight, to just getting 2 attacks when they charge. Give them a pistol for an extra melee attack, place them on a gunraven and pick who you want to charge. I, as a GK, am having a really hard time countering it effectively. They rack up so many attacks, and they have one character (librarian or something?) that allows them to reroll all misses and failed wounds. It's bizarre how many wounds they can do in one charge, and if they are in a gunraven they always get to charge.

All I'm saying is BA are a very potent codex, you don't strictly speaking need a new codex.

A new codex wont change much available now so its a win win really. Though many people say they wont be updated in 6th from some of what GW has said possibly all codexs will be made for 6th. At least thats my view on what they have said. Many may disagree but I could see GW easily have all codex`s 6th edition redo`s even if just to make them properly inline with 6th. (hopefully) anyway

That's not what people are saying. If you go in line with what GW usually does (by large) they make a new codex for every army during the length of each rulebook edition.

The problem is that it's usually ~3 codex per year. So some of us will be waiting a few years for our 6th ed codex.

Yes the Death COmpany are insanly good now, since they are relentless(is that still in 6th?), give them bolters and they still get 4 attackes each on the charge, add a CHAPLAIN(lol) and you get re-rolls to hit and to wound.

I love my Space Vampires

in Inquisitor, a Space Marine can take a krak grenade, pull out the pin, eat the grenade, throw the pin, and the thrown pin will actually kill a normal man, whereas the Space Marine won't even have indigestion. This has actually happened in a game. Hell, a marine can throw his bolt shells and do more damage than by shooting his boltgun

Yeah it's commonly known that people in new-zealand get the proverbial short end of the stick because....well really at this point no good reason, i guess GW tries to milk tarrif laws or something.

People in this thread have said its not likely ba will get a new book. GW at tge open day have suggested they have 6 books done while true not all maybe codexs there is a possibility all books can and will be made for 6th.

On topic again ba are a solid choice with plenty options to combat all other forces in 6th

Typically speaking, most codexes get an update each edition. But a handful don't get it until the last year or so. There's also a couple that don't get an update at all - for 5th ed, this was Dark Angels, Black Templars and Tau (and possibly one or two others, not sure).
The smart money is on Blood Angels either being one of the last to be updated, or not at all until 7th rolls around.

In either case, they are still pretty damn strong under the new ruleset. While some units got buffed and others got nerfed, there's very little in the Codex that is completely useless. So go for it!

If you want them get them even when the new codex comes out(which won't be for a while) you will still have an army you enjoy the look fluff and the root playstyle.
