Spoiler:
Chaos is the gak, Dark Angels are major awesome, so DA + Chaos = the best thing since air-cooled plasma cannon sponsons on an execuitioner

How best to model fallen angels without ott mutations/spiky bits/horns ect..

im thinking old-shool black n silver with plenty beaky plasma-gun love, using the DA characters ect...

Defaced Imperial iconography would look good. Also, painting exposed flesh in unnatural and pallid colours would be a subtle but effective method.

remember that the Dark Angels fallen don't believe they're evil for you don'y need the chaos icons.
Mine are just painted black (& all made from the DA elites box set - ie with robes).

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

thanks for the input guys, ive always wondered why the chaos marines have pale skin..

..and, everyone knows the Lion was as Chaos as they come, so the fallen might be the good guys, Cypher ect...this is what i love about the DA and Alpha Legions, over normal chaos marines..

If the wallet allowed for it, keeping the power armour to preheresy stuff from forgeworld might be a nice touch; how likely is it that a marine with the latest mark of armour has fallen?
They wouldnt necessarily have to be covered with marks of chaos gods, or even have daemonic mutations.
To be classed as fallen doesnt necessarily mean youve taken to worshiping some actual gods instead of our good old vegie Emperor. They could be as simple as renegade marines, or if you wanted fully fledged nurgle worhippers... it all fits
but keeping a coherent running theme across the force might look better than a mish mash of various godly alegiances.

'Ain't nothing crazy about me but my brain. Right brain? Riight! No not you right brain! Right left brain? Right!... Okay then lets do this!!

For me personally, Fallen would look like old-school Space Marines with older-mark armour, DA iconography and black armour. Maybe a bit of mixed/field-repaired armour, but predominantly old-school stuff, especially metals. Mix in some cool-looking 3rd-party and GW bits (Robed parts - but not too many, Maxmini steam knight heads, maybe some Anvil parts, lots fo Forgeword, add some wear and tear and battle damage, and you're good!

Certainly no Chaos symbols on any Fallen I'd put together.

Something like this?

Yeah, on that track as an option for some of them, but without the explicitly chaos aspects like the shield and backpack (possibl the shoulders - cant seem 'em properly)

The other thing (for me) will be the use of some really old Metal Space Marines. I've got a bunch of these from back in the day, I've lost some over the years, but I've also picked up some new ones. Of course, my small fallen force will be competing with my old-school Crimson Fists for these figures. The more beaten-up ones will be DAs, Actually, a few (not many, but some) will also be used in my Iron Warriors warband.
