Iunno if obyron is the best choice here, he's a beatstick HQ without a real unit to join, I might go with a DIY Overlord with weave, MSS and a scythe, and use the remaining points for more troops.

I can't really see a single Spyder doing much, are you planning on using it primarily for making more scarabs?

I'd almost advocate dropping the scarabs and spyder, and grabbing either crypteks or more troops with the goal of "swamping" the field at 500 points.

A good thought, I was planning mainly for more scarabs and for killing vehicles and dealing with terrain.
I sort of want a beatstick HQ, I mean the DIY overlord is pretty powerful at this pointlevel but it's that 2+ SV and extra WS and other stats/powers.

I'm planning on using this for a mechanicus count-as, so thinking more elite the better or more small machine like things (Scarabs) to swarm.

Is their anyway to combine both goals?

Well then, the HQ choice is solid, my only concern is him not having a unit to tuck into that makes much sense. Hopefully your warriors and immortals aren't going to get into assault.

In 6th edition, Gauss Flayers are plenty of anti-tank.

What would you suggest as a good unit for Obyron?
I'm planning on up scaling to 1500p also but including the same things.

Or should I replace Obyron for a cheaper character and then make him Obyron at higher points?
Or should I make a "deathstar" with him and another CC unit at this level?

Anyone?

Annihilation barge instead of spyder and scarabs for vehicle killing and anti infantry, then dump the rest into more immortals or warriors.

And you could probably keep him as the hq it just depends on what you go against. For a similar overlord you're looking at 130 points for ws sw and add mss without deep strike mobility so eh either way.

I'm not taking vehicles, because it's a count as mechanicus army and since I don't want to be called out for "Modelling for Advantage" because I don't want something looking like a barge, which doesn't fit the theme.

And because I like an all foot force.

At the 1500 level you should have one Hq for like 180ish points or less, i dont know much about necrons, but i see a lot of people massing warriors, barges, immortals, and Lords with resurrection orbs, typical army that i see is like 3 squads of warriors, 1 squad of immortals, 1 squad of deathmarks or w.e, 2 lords with rez orbs, maybe barrges..? maybe this helps?

I am a cron player. At 500 pts, we are pretty bland.... BUT, I would take...

Szeras 100pts (Nice cheap HQ, and can upgrade one unit, plus I love the model)

5 Tesla Immortals 90 (add Szeras)
10 Warriors 130

I don't know how this would work, but I doubt many will have a way to contend with the 2 anny barges at 500 points.
