Is it possible to make a high elf army that has ALOT of archers and still be valid in play?

I don't mean tournement play mind, I mean for friendly games and such. Just to clarify I haven't got the high elves codex, although I really want it just for the background info and model stats, although I do like the idea of having an army full of archers and even having HQ's with amazing bows.

If I were to have a High elf army it would have a lot of archers in it, but I don't know what else to have in the army that would compliment that play style.

Archers are core, so yes you could write an all archer list. It would perform terribly.

You could take Alith Anar, he has an amazing bow that fires like a bolt thrower.
Then you just take several units of high elf archers

Yes you can, but its a very bad idea I must regretebly tell you.

Aww thats a shame, I would love a fantasy army that had alot of archers in it. I think it would be a nice change from my WoC army.

Archers are just terrible right now. Only ones that come to mind that are decent are skirmishing empire ones and thats because of skirmish. Even still I'd rather take other core options for empire.

If you really want a shooting army its dwarves. Everything else just can't compare. Archers aren't strong enough. Sure, other armies could have a shooting side show (Empire, Bretonians, Lizards, and TK come to mind). But I think only Dwarves can do a 100% shooting based army and still be competitive.

Wood elves can still do a decent archer spam list. Tons of glade guard with two biggish units of waywatchers to deal with armor.

Throw in a level spell singer, hail of doom bsb and some dryads and eagles for chaff and you are good to go.

Brettonian archers are decent for 6pts each, as they get a free barricade and Flaming attacks are cheap. IMO probably most viable spam archer list you could write
