There are rumors floating around the saying that Tyranid are getting flyer models this fall. I would love too see some new rules with it to make it more of a "flier."
This is what I think would be cool:
Give it a new ability called “Agile Behemoth.” Which allows for a 4+ jink save when diving, and allows it to reroll a failed grounded test, but the second roll only passes on a 5+.
2. Give the Harpy two new weapon options, which it can exchange the Barbed Strangler for:
1. Raptor claws +10 points: The Harpy gains 1D3 strength when vector striking.
2. Sky Swarm cannon
This is a new weapon for the Tyranid to take down fliers.
Description: The Sky Swarm cannon shoot a round armored shell that contains a nest packed with millions of insect size Tyranids with adamantium hard carapaces. When the armored shell reaches its target location in breaks open releasing swarm, which forms a cloud of ravenous insects that attempt to consume any object they find, be it biological or mechanical. Any living (non-Tyranid) creature that passes the swarm will be tormented with stings any bites and any mechanical engines are liable to stall as it becomes clogged with these insects.
Weapon Stats: S 0 Assault 1 Range 36 inches large blast
Rules: This weapon does not cause wounds in the tradition sense. Place the large blast template were hit to represent the location of the sky swarm. It will remain in place until the Tryanid player next turn (by then the swarm disperses).
If an enemy Flying Monstrous Creature that is swooping, starts it’s movement, moves thru, or ends its movement on a swarm template the creature must reduce its movement by 2D6 inches and take a grounded test.
If an enemy Flyer that is zooming, starts it’s movement, moves thru, or ends its movement on a swarm template the creature must reduce its movement by 4D6 inches and takes a dangerous terrain check.
This attack has not effect on ground units.
What do you think? I would love to see something like this. It give the Tyranids a unique way to deal with filers and I love the idea of taking down flyers by forcing them to move too slow and stall out.
