First and foremost, I am not talking about wargear, I am talking about army representation.

With the 5th edition SW codex, many players felt that the 13th Co got boned. With this edition allowing allies, a fluff build that has been proposed is the following,

BA Reclusiarch + Death Company

To represent Wulfen with a controlling Wolf Priest. So the question arises can this allied detachment be modled as a wolf priest and wulfen or must it be modled as BA models?

While I am biased and would go by the rule of cool and the many count as armies, I was not sure about the representation of allies in the new edition.

If would be the same as your actual army. How would you like to play against an army that might be confusing?

WYSIWYG would apply to anything. What you're proposing is a "counts as" solution, which has no basis in the rules (with a few exceptions for special characters) but if you pull it off right then it'll be fine with most people.

As SoloFalcon said, if it's likely to cause confusion then I'd avoid it. However, I do think that if you're able to distinguish them enough from the rest of your force, then go for your life.

Well I could have a space wolf army poorly painted with a load of BA allies from a successor chapter that has a similar colour scheme. How would anyone know the diff unless I pointed out?
There is no wysiwyg break just poor painting.

When you are doing a counts as army with clearly modelled units being from codex A and the rest from codex B, the rule book calls that Forging a Narrative. 6th ed is about making a story of your battle. Nothing saysa a story then a 13th company army.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also wysiwyg is not an issue in this case, wolfen modelled with ccw and bolt pistol and a wolf priest with a crozius and whatever are wysiwyg.

They fulfull the wargear of DC and a chaplin. Nothing there I see as wrong.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

Well the 13th Co markings and gear looks nothing like current day SW. In addition the Wulfen, old metal models, could not be mistaken for new SW at all.

However beyond the obvious difference, they would still be WYSIWYG as far as wargear is concerned.

As long as equipment is correct, and units are easily identified, you're good.

Just be prepared to remind your opponent which codex each squad is from during the game.

I'm sure 99% of your opponents would be cool with it.

And on another note, this is an awesome idea! I might just have to use it myself sometime.

I would just paint the Wulfen bases with a red ring around them, which would make them very easy to differentiate while still being cool models for the task. The point is being easy to differentiate, and I think with the 13th company models and a red base ring, anyone who wasn't insane could easily differentiate the unit.

My marine biker allies don't look like marines they're guardsmen, no complaints so far.

I was considering doing something similar to what liturgies said if I used allied C: SM with my GK, make them Iron Knights chapter, they will blend right in.
