I've been putting up pictures and
WIP shots of my miniatures for Dakkas review for some time now and have found it incredibly helpful in improving the work that I do. However I have always lacked the confidence to paint anything larger than infantry (barring one sentinel) because I have never practised working on such a large model with flat surfaces. This dent in my confidence has shaped how my armies form over time and has (to a degree) handicapped what I will and wont buy for my force. I recently decided that the Forge World Contemptor dreadnought was a fantastic model and one that I simply had to field, and of course this requires it to be painted first (by my standards), Having once again received a fantastic quality sculpt from forge world with the only defect being modified by myself as some rough battle damage on a chapter relic I set to priming and painting.
My painting process involves breaking the model down into manageable parts, and painting that whole section to completion before moving onto the next one, whilst I understand most guides prefer the entire model to be done in one colour, then detailed etc, this simply hasn't worked for me. I have now completed what seems to be about half of my contemptor and would love for some comments or criticisms that I can carry on through the rest of the model.
As always he will features in my Angels Infernus force:
