I'm going to try and make a Vostroyan army along with my Space Wolves, but all of their models are metal; which I'm not very fond of. So when codexes are updated for the Armies like the Imperial Guard, is it likely that GW will update the metal models?

Vostroyans are interesting as they are a unique faction like steel legion or mordians but they have not been doomed to the collectors section of the gw vault. odds are they may eventually become plastic or at very least finecast, this is probably going to take some time as we just got a new finecast wave and with chaos, the new starter, more fliers and dark angels rumoured all this year you will most likely be waiting till 2013 at earliest if these rumours pan out, hope this helps.

GW hasn't made any of the metal IG regiments Finecast; they stated they had plans to do them all in plastic at some point, but that was back when the current IG codex came out in 09.

The best that could possably happen is this.

The current models get transitioned into Finecast and stuck in the collectors section. And new plastic sculpts get released for the general section. They won't get rid of the old sculpts, just make a new plastic box.

The plastics would probably be a 10 man squad box and then a Command Squad box. You may be forced to buy the seperate Heavy Weapon Teams for your heavies as Finecast.

Steel Legion would probably recieve the same treatment.

If they even had plans to, it wouldn't be for many years, They have a lot of 6th ed codexes and model waves to release first. Honestly, I highly doubt they will ever get around to re re-releasing these models.

If it happens, it will probably happen with the next IG codex. I hope they bring back Doctrines. That would get me to start IG.

I would expect that the existing metals would be re-released in Finecast.
Other than that, no.

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

I know people miss doctrines, but personally I'd be happy with special charectors like the SM codex. So for example, Creed makes all infantry squads stubborn. Or a Mordian Iron Guard special charectors make infantry squads overwatch on normal BS, etc. Would be pretty cool.

I just wish they did it with normal HQs than tying them to special characters. I don't like having to take, say, Vulkan to make the army use the Salamanders chapter tactics, simply because I don't much like special characters.

Something like, "The Company Commander that is acting as your Warlord may take any one of the following upgrades for the army, to represent the diverse regiments that the IG is made up of"

I'll take that over doctrines; it's fairly similar but a little more cut and dry. As long as the traits were a bit better balanced (I can take an extra heavy support slot but no Rough Riders? Oh no!) it could work just fine. You can still make a fairly characterful army with the current IG dex though.

This is actually what I would want; since that's really all can be done for Vostroyans and other metal models like them.

I've been under the assumption that the moment I finish painting my last Valhallan, GW will release a gorgeous multipart plastic kit of them. Guess I better get painting, for all your sakes

Murphy's Law?

As I recall, there was something about it that says it cannot be taken advantage of. If you attempt to use Murphy's Law to force a favorable outcome, it will fail.

All optionless metals are going finecast. Metal models for Units that have options are going Plastic, and hybrids like Tau Broadsides are going plastic/finecast hybrid.

Or succeed in a unforseen way.

Like they would come out with a Valhallen kit, but the sculpts will be lame and they will simultaniously discontinue the old sculpts.
