---------------------------

Rolled for warlord traits:

Tau: Night attacker, Nids: Conqueror of cities.

rolled for mission:
Purge the Alien

Rolled for Deployment:

Vanguard strike

Rolled for Powers

The Tervigons get Smite(picked over enfeeble), Endurance, and Warp Speed. The oeys are sticking with the codex powers

The Farseer gets

foreboding and Terrify

Rolled to see who deploys, tau win the rolloff.

Tau deployed mostly in the corner behind the tanks, one squad of Tau pathfinders hid behind the LOS blocking building and the Eldar Pathfinders are infiltrating.

Nids held the Harpies in reserve(to keep the railguns from sniping them first turn) and deployed with the zoanthropes/tyranid primes up front, followed by rippers, followed by termagants, followed by the tervigons.

infiltrated the pathfinders in the forests north of the nids.

Scout move: Tau pathfinders move to the LOS Blocking building.

Nids seize initiative.

-----------------------------------
Nid turn 1

The tervigons spawn 8,11, and 7 gants, two of them rolling doubles and no longer being able to spawn

One squad of rippers, two squads of gants, a Tyranid Prime, and a Tervigon move towards the pathfinders, while the rest move tawrds the tau army.

The Zoanthropes try to use warp blast on the Eldar pathfinders, two of them fail the psychic test, and the eldar fail to deny the witch. the Blast doesn't scatter, but only kills one pathfinder.

Everything else runs to get closer to their target.
--------------------------------
Tau turn 1

The Farseer casts Prescience and Terrify on the Tyranidprime, but he passes.

The fire warriors board the devilfish and everything starts to move to the southern forest.

The Pathfinders fire on the Prime's squad, but fails to wound.

The Tau pathfinders light up the Blue prime, getting four markerlight hits. The Broadsides raise thier BS to 5 and open fire, killing the Prime and one Zoanthrope.

The Northernmost hammerhead raises it's BS to five and drops a large blast on the gants, scattering five inches and missing.

The second hammerhead tries for the dark green gants, scattering 1 inch and, killing 4.

The Fireknives shoot at the Warlord prime and his zoanthropes, inflicting a wound on the prime.

T1: Tau : 2
Nids: 0

----------------------------
Nid t2

Roll for reserves, one Harpy comes in swooping from the southern forest.

the last working Tervigon spawns 11 gants, but can no longer spawn

Everything moves towards its intended target.

The Blue gants shoot at the Eldar Pathfinders, killing 2.

The blue Zoanthropes fail their psychic tests

The green Zoanthropes pass and kill all but one of the green Tau pathfinders. He runs

The harpy aims at the Deathrain suits, but misses... and hits the Fireknives, killing all but one.

He passes the Leadership test though.

Blue gants charge the Eldar pathfinders, overwatch killing one gant, but the gants roll snake eyes for the charge. The purple rippers charge and make it, wiping out the Farseer and the Eldar Pathfinders

-----------------------
Tau turn 2

The tanks shuffle around and the suits move closer.

The pathfinders light up the Warlord Prime squad, raising the BS of the Bladestorms to 5 and making the ruins cover 6+, The bladestorms open fire, killing the warlord prime and one zoanthrope.

The Deathrain suits fire at the harpy, causing one wound and making it crash, the broadsides turn to fire on it, instantly killing it.

The hammerheads turn on a squad of Gants, killing all but two. and the suits try to hide behind the tanks.

Tau:5(warlord)
Nids:4(warlord)

-----------------------
Turn 3 Nids
------------------------
Another Harpy comes in and swoops in.

The blue Zoanthropes explode a Hammerhead, the green Zoanthropes both fail thier psychic tests. The harpy kills one of the Deathrain suits.

---------------
Turn 3 Tau
---------------

The Bladestorm and Fireknives open fire on the green Zoanthropes, killing them.

The Devilfish, and deathrains fire on the Harpy, but to no avail. The broadsides line up a shot and, instant death it, even through the Jink save. The hammerhead opens up on some more gants, killing 4 more.

The crisis suits retreat behind the tanks.

Tau:7(warlord)
Nids:6(warlord)

-------------
Turn 4 Nids
--------------

The last Harpy swoops in from behind the gants( can't rely on snap-fire as much as I thought to save Fliers)

the swarm moves in and both Zoanthropes fail their Psychic tests (They passed more when the farseer was on the Board.) The Harpy fires at the hammerhead, pens and shakes the tank.

The black rippers try to charge the Bladestorms

Overwatch wounds one base twice, they roll 12 inches for charge and catch the bladestorm suits. The Rippers fail to kill any suits, but the Suits kill two bases in CC.

Turn 4 Tau

The tanks and suits shift around and open fire. The Broadsides try to hit the harpy, and successed to do so and Instant kill it, even with the jink (wow. I can't believe I wasted all of that shooting on them the first couple turns. Should have just Railgunned them instead of trying to ground them).

The hammerhead aims for gants with it's Hammerhead blast, but because it's BS 1, it scatters hard and hits a squad of rippers instead, killing all three bases.

Pathfinders light up the last ripper base, only getting two hits. I choose to raise the BS of the lone Fireknive to 5 and open fire. They, alongside the Deathrains and a devilfish, kill another squad of rippers.

In assault, the rippers wound a battlesuit and kill a drone, but the suits stomp on them.

Tau:10
Nids:6
---------------
Turn 5 nids
----------------

The nids are going to wrap around the tower to try and push the bladestorms into LOS of the zoanthropes for next turn

other than than, just the standard move everyone, anything that can't shoot runs. The Black gants are in range of the deathrain suits and open fire, killing a drone.

The Zoanthropes shoot at the hammerhead, immoblizing it.

Nothing is in charge range, so it's the Tau's turn.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tau turn 5

The Bladestorms move forward because the Hammerhead is in the way of the broadsides

The pathfinders open fire on the Zoanthropes and get two Markerlights, making the bladestorms BS5 and they open fire on the Zoanthropes, killing 1. The hammerhead gives it a shot, missing on a 1 with the railgun, but killing with the burst cannons.

Nothing else shoots, the suits backpedal.

I roll a 1 to continue. the game ends

11 points Tau, 6 points nids.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I was actually surprised. I thought the Harpies would be a hell of a lot harder to kill and thought reserving them was a good idea. I was thinking two of them would appear at turn two and sweep up from the southern forest and be able to hit the Crisis suits.

I was also thinking if they started on the board, since my railguns had Blacksun FIlters, they would just fry them before they could start swooping even during the night fighting turn.. If I were to replay this game, The Harpies would definitely start on the board, right behind the Zoanthropes and just bumrush across the no mans land. Would have been a lot more fun if the harpies started off on the board after the nids seized initiative

I also noticed on the tau side, I had made an epic mistake in my placement of the Farseer. Should have put the farseer...... ANYWHERE else. Right in that forest was a stupid idea with no thought behind it. At least the harpy misplay was due to putting too much trust in the FMC Rules. The Farseer thing was just dumb beyond belief.

So what do you guys think?

I must ask why you dropped enfeeble for Smite... Dropping the suits to t3 would allow them to be Instant killed by most of your big bugs. Either way, nice Batrep! Im not sold on Harpys personally, I think Flyrants are worth the points increase.

I was just looking at the AP2. I was thinking the extra shooting would pop the drones, and then the suits, when assaulted by the tervigons, would crumble.

Well, I hope you learned to never drop Enfeeble for anything. It will soon catch on as the best Biomancy power.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

It isn't the best for my farseer as I have a dark eldar poison army, but I guess that's the only way it would be bad...
