They're gunboats and have more in common with helies.
Real Imperial fighter craft are more streamlined.

Specifically the Avenger, Lightning, Thunderbolt, and Marauder bomber are all more reasonable aircraft.
Yeah, I see what you mean, but you have things like Storm Ravens and Thunderhawks which are supposed to be reasonably high speed drop ships and they have these huge squared off edges that would make that damned near impossible and most of them would need some sort of special magical devices we don't yet have to fly even at low speeds. Even the more "fighter" like of the Imperial aircraft despite having huge arse jets look like they'd struggle to keep up with your average WW2 propeller powered plane. The term for it in aerodynamics is "bluff", Imperial fighters are covered in bluff faces that you won't see on any aircraft made since, I dunno, before WW1, if at all. Even on boats (the variety that sail on water) figured out bluff bodies aren't good for sailing thousands of years ago. The Orky aircraft look more like an actual working aircraft (albeit covered in Orky bits and made with poor construction) than most the Imperial fliers.
I dunno, I'm not gonna build them to test, but the Orky fliers just look like realistic planes with poor construction and random orky bits which would destroy performance but the base design is still reasonable, the Imperial fliers look like nothing no engineer human, ork or otherwise would ever design in the first place.
