I am interested in playing WHFB for the first time. I have a Chaos Demon Army that I just picked up in a swap meet, but I don't even know where to start building an army list.

Here is a list of what I have:

(1) Bloodthister
(1) Lord Of Change
(1) Herald of Khorn
(4) Plague Bearers
(5) Pink Horrors
(49) Bloodletters
(20) Demonetts
(8) Flamers of Tzeench
(3) Bloodcrushers

Any thoughts on what to start with at around 1000-1500 points?

Two units of 20 bloodletters with full command, herald of khorne as your general, 2 X 4 flamers for 1000

I think he could pull out a solid 1500 points... wait.. he cannot use any of those greater daemons until 2000+ can he?

From what armybuilder tells me, I need at least 2250 to field the bloodthirster with 100 points of gifts. The Lord of Change is even more, since he is more expensive once you start giving him caster levels.

blood thirster doesn't need 100pts of gfts but you still need to tell us what point level you're playing.

Horde of bloodletters is always a decent start. Heralds are manditory. I'd pick a greater demon and go with one. If you use the BT, maybe pick up some pink horrors as magic defense, if you use the LoC then maybe some fiend conversions and another combat unit.

Tz heralds with the loremaster can make your pink horrors into combat crazies with a good winds of magic roll and the right lore.

It's really focused on heavy magical buffs. Mindrazor, TimeWarp ect

Can work, but can also bag your opponant some nice VP's
