What's a harliestar and how does it work?

I would imagine it's a mix of Dark Eldar/ Harliequins/ Deathstar.

I assumed as much, what I meant to ask was what size is the unit what upgrades are they given, do they have a transport, are they supported by other units/characters?

You can do it a few ways from what ive seen but the main trick is you have a Farseer (or even better Eldrad) with Fortune a bunch of Halequins and 1 or more close combat characters with a 2+ save - Vect from Dark Eldar allies is the obvious choice. You fortune uint with Eldrad and it also affects the dark eldar character attached to the unit. You now have a 2+ rerollable save character at the front of the unit to catch all the fire that comes at the unit, thats a 1/36 chance of cutting through that save. With Doom on the target unit there isnt much in the game except maybe Paladins with Draigo that can survive a charge from that.

How big a unit is iit? Is it walking?

Eldrad isn't an obvious choice since he's not fleet while a normal Farseer is. You're either going to use a small Harlequin unit in a Raider (would total 7-10 models) or they're footslogging. The Raider is probably preferable, even though Harlequins have a critical mass of around 7 models (any less and their damage output isn't quite high enough in my experience). Don't forget Shadowfields on the Raider!

regardless, this seems like a fun idea and a good use of my harlies+archon that I never use ^^

I would also shy away from vect these days as his attacks are only AP4 :/
