When you shoot (overwatch not included) a twin-linked weapon roll a d6 to hit and on the roll of a 6 (unless your ballistic skill 1) you hit the enemy twice!
Simplicity!
Would that mean that twin-linked tesla would hit 6 times for each 6 (since non
TL tesla is 3 times for each 6 rolled)? I don't think people would like that.
Also, why the restriction for BS1? Overwatch? etc. It's still twin-linked, even if you are BS1. That would make tesla overwatch deadly! 10 Necron Immortals with Tesla would average 10 Str5 hits on Overwatch since 1 in 6 tesla shots would roll a 6 to hit, which means 6 hits. In reality, overwatch from a
TL tesla squad would be either totally awesome or a complete dud! Roll 2 6s out of 10 rolls and you get 12 hits, roll none and you get none. Imagine a slightly above average roll of 3 6s out of 10 and that's 18 hits!
The BS1 combined with
TL Tesla is what makes the Annihilation Barge so awesome for killing flyers under the current rules. You hit on 6, re-roll anything that's not a 6, and every 6 you get is 3 hits.
