I'm an ork player myself, and after observing the way they play, i've found a few weakneses. Orks LOVE assaulting, so having alot of long ranged troops in your team can help a bunch. The best way to keep Orks at bay, is to play lines. Block out any gaps in the area woth troops that can easily out assault Orks.In a way, i'ts all about using their strenths as their weakneses. Orks ALWAYS have a trukk or a battlewagon , and they will aim for your heavy troops, so keep them with as much cover save as possible. So woth orks, you just have to keep your formarions tight, and block out the orks as much as possible, to make sure they can't assault you. If they assault, your dead

Actually, this ed, orks do not love assaulting. They love gunning down chargers with massed Overwatch fire. Park the T4 bodies around objectives and wish them good luck clearing 100+ models that throw down tons of shots at anything that gets close.

Charging across the table just gets them killed as casualties are removed from the front and make it harder and harder to close.

They do not always have trukk or battlewagon. In fact I think we'll see more biker armies and green tides.

It is more if you can not whittle down the numbers and the orks assault they you'll die. This importantly ignores gunlines, jets, bikers and the general awesomeness of ork shooting.

I think the best way in 6th to destroy orks is just create a killing field, which you push them into. I guess that is what you mean by playing lines, I have seen military tactic books refer to it as a killng field but also gunlanes are a related topic.

To be clear without cover saves orks will die easily enough in shooting. They have a mek with a kff, which gives cover saves: destroy the vehicle he is in, then try to assassinate the model.

Side of battlewagons is pretty easy to find. Trukks are actually hp 3, as such probably go for pens of the av10 then trying to glance.
6+ armour means without cover saves orks will die.
Then do not fear orks once they are in small numbers when they assault: they will hit last, you might need to target the nob if a power klaw/fist is threat.

The only other point of yours that I would wish to clarify, is that I would go for two tight formations, divide and conquer assault armies.

Bikers and gunlines hiding behind an ADL then you have to come up with some new ideas. I am not sure they are top tier lists but they are certainly different.
