When killing units matters for victory points (purge the alien, the one with fast attack / heavy VP's)

I assume splitting a squadron by leaving behind an immobilized vehicle gives up a 2nd VP.

The rule says something like (no brb on me right now) 'counted as a separate unit for all ' .. blah blah..

Right?

So in these missions, you would never leave behind an immobilized vehicle unless you really needed to, right?

yup as it becomes a new unit, its like the reverse of IG combined squads.

Way way better than immobilised=wrecked in 5th

I think that depends on the circumstance. I recently had a game where wanted to the non-immobilized vehicles away, and almost did, but then the extra VP made it not worth it.

In 5th, the surviving members would have run away and been out of assault range.
In 6th, the entire squad got assaulted because I'd rather lose the entire squad all at once and give up one VP than give up 2.

Seems like a boon to IG though. (like they needed it!)
