Thou shalt not refer to the Adeptus Soritas as "Bolter Biatches" nor shalt thou go anywhere near our sisters during the time of the "Red Rage," lest thou wishes to be the first human to enter orbit without the aid of a shuttle.

Here is an old army list of mine that could fit the bill. Sternguard put out the most firepower of any unit you could fit in a drop pod and Pedro makes them scoring.

(1475)
HQ [175]
Pedro Kantor 175

Elites [830]
Ironclad 135 (170)
Drop Pod

Sternguard 295 (330)
10 Sternguard
X4 combi melta
X1 Powerfist/bolter
Drop Pod (35)

Sternguard 295 (330)

X4 combi melta
X1 Powerfist/bolter
Drop Pod (35)
Troops [470]

Tactical Squad 200 (235)
10 Marines
1 Melta gun
1 Sergeant powerfist/bolt pistol
Drop Pod (35)

As an alternative the Master of the Forge + 5 Iron Clad list is probably one of the cheaper drop pod armies if you convert the dreads out of the black reach kit.

Ha, I clicked on your thread because your header says '200 points' so I was interested, could this be a new type of mini game??

But no, its not, its just a typo.

If you're planning on using marines in 6th ed make sure that you're aware of the new rules! Drop Pods, Rhinos and Razorbacks are going to become very weak units (if I understand this new hull points thing correctly)

You might wanna get some dakka preds, terminators and dreadnoughts. They're rumoured to be good units in the new rules-set. But if I were you, I would just get the models I like the look of and paint for the sheer joy of it!

At 2k points you can do this:

Pedro Kantor

Vulkan He'stan

Sternguard x10: 3 combimelta, 2 combiflamer, sgt w/ fist. Drop pod, locator beacon

Sternguard x10: 4 combimelta, 2 combiflamer, sgt w/ fist. Drop Pod

Assault Terminators x8

Tactical Squad: Melta gun, multi melta. Drop pod

Tactical Squad: Melta gun, multi melta. Drop pod

Tactical Squad: Melta gun, multi melta. Drop pod

What this list will do is drop 20 sternguard and 2 special characters on top of something with rerollable meltaguns to alphastrike high-value vehicles / terminators/ etc. A tactical squad will come in as well to squat onto an objective. Turn 2 you get a potential 4 more units that can deepstrike anywhere, or if you are feeling squirrely, you can locator beacon right on top of your previous pod. With combat squads used, you can get 10 scoring units.

What do you think?

Why take vulcan and pedro? You can only get the chapter tactics of one of them.

Pedro's Chapter Tactics includes Hold the Line!, so, like the above said, why in the world would you take both Vulkan and Kantor?

Drop Vulkan for an Epistolary Librarian to take Gate + Null Zone. Hide the Terminators somewhere, and Gate over to the Sternguard when they drop pod in.

190pts you can have an Epistolary Librarian with a Stormshield + Terminator Armour, and give your Terminators a deepstrike, since they have to deploy with everything else being in reserve. Just keep them behind a convenient piece of Terrain if you don't get first turn. In fact, it's best to hide them anyways, in case you get seized.

Drop Pod in, Gate over to the Sternguard, and enjoy having 31 Power Armored bodies + 9 Terminator Armored bodies in your opponents face first turn. Take care of any high priority targets with the combimeltas (like Land Raiders) and enjoy them have to choose between the Sternguard and Hammernators for their next turn.

Just make sure to put as many objectives on their end of the board. Any further ones you can drop pod the other two tactical squads too and have a party.

EDIT: Dropping meltas got better this edition, since you can now move 6" out of a Drop Pod. This gives you a bit more leeway if you scatter a bit.

Note, that, Drop Pods can mishap if you target it to land on top of someone and you get a direct hit. Inertial Guidance only lets you reduce the scatter to avoid mishaps - not avoid mishaps completely. You can also still scatter off the table, etc.

(In short, never target your pod to land on top of anything)

I havent got my dex on me atm so cant give you points values but i run this sort of list at about 2k

1x Libby with upgrades
1x Master of the forge
3x Tactical squad with PF, LC, PG
3 x Las/ plas Razorbacks (tacs combat squad and the PG/ PF ride in here)
3x Dread with MM
3 x drop pod (dreads roll in here
1x Tactical termiantor squad

You have a decent amount of firepower from the troops which sit back with LC or ride in transport and the hq's can roll with a squad each. Then the podding dreads are relatively cheap and a decent short ranged suicide unit that often make their points back. Then of course you have the terminators that DS along side the pods. Its not the best list but its fun to play because it gives you a bit of everything

Any suggestions for a 2000 point, competitive, all-round army. Some close combat, long range, heavy, fast, and assault troops all rolled into one? No psychic powers unless needed, and still a low model count, low tactics, and a lot of fire power?
Any suggestions guys?

I am really feeding into it by continuing, but in the future a little more guidance on what the heck you want to do with your army would be better. You are just throwing out a bunch of words which could apply to a large number of armies in the game.

Below is an army from 5th edition that would probably do alright in 6th.
1995 Pedro Rhino Rush
HQ [175]
Pedro Kantor 175

Elites [880]

Assault Terminators 200
TH/SS x5

Sternguard 305 (340)

seems like the armies are good, but i would like to see your own ideas. Just give me a 2000 point army that you think would work well competativlly. I dont care what it's like, as long as it's good. I just want to get a feel for the space maeines

I would recommend a full reserve, full on drop pod army but for the lack of antiflyer available. This works well as an elite army.

Currently I feel, apart from ADL and other fortifications: TLautocannon dreads, vulkanised attack bike squads, and 3 stormtalons(numbers are important) are the only options to shoot down flyers as desired.

The only one that works with full reserve will be the dreads but that doesn't fit Vulkan or pedro :(

Pedro is looking good right now, then Vulkan is being underrated as a bit too 5th edition.
