An Igloo Deep North in Canada, eh?

Hey all, quick question:

If a character has the IC rule, and has the option of having a retinue (i.e. the unit that states it must follow him), can the character (and thereby the retinue) join other squads? I can't see why not.

Both players should be using the least durable units possible, with the house rule that all players remove an article of clothing every time you lose a unit, and take a drink every time you kill one of your opponent's units.
I have no idea which army will be triumphant, but I can assure you that everyone wins.

What IC has a retinue?

Moreover, where are retinues covered in the BRB?

Retinues aren't covered in the BRB, hence my confusion. And, it just so happens that the Eldar Corsair Prince has a retinue of Blade Sworn, but the Prince has the IC rule. I want to know if I can put the IC + retinue into a squad of say, Corsair Harlequins for extra dakka.

Edit: I didn't realize it was so rare lol.

The BGB doesn't have anything against it, but usually watch for phrasing under the independent character rule. For example, the tau commander and ethereal specifically state that they are not independent characters if joined to their respective retinue.

So in the absence of a prohibition, the IC rule would allow it? Sweet. 6 extra power weapons is a nice treat.

Well, do remember that the 5th edition rulesbook had a section on retinues that GW, not very surprisingly, seemed to have forgotten.

Not to quote (at risk of getting in trouble) but:

"You may take one Corsair Blade Sworn Retinue for every Corsair Prince in your army. If selected, the Corsair Prince must must lead the Retinue Squad. This squad does not count against your HQ allowance."

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So nothing saying the IC rule is lost. Just that he must lead them.

So he has the IC rule, and has a restriction that he must lead them.

So until they die, he can not attach himself to any other squad, as he is attached to the squad of Blade Sworn.

What page is the "Eldar Corsair Prince has a retinue of Blade Sworn" on, I could not find it in the Eldar book.

Imperial Armour 11 pg. 160-161 (maybe I threw you off there, oops ). Either way, the blunt "he can not attach himself to any other squad, as he is attached to the squad of Blade Sworn" statement makes the most sense. Guess I'm scrapping that idea.

If you want the retinue to join another unit find a rule allowing them to do so.
