Hi!
I've been offered a rulebook from the Open fire!-box, but as I'm new in the hobby, I can't figure out if it's v. 3 (the latest, right?) or not, do anyone know if it's a good buy now?

I would also stay away from the softback rulebook in Achtung!, unless they have fixed the extremely poor bindings the pages will fallout as soon as you open the damn thing.

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

The soft cover rule book from Actung (same one you get for bringing in your 2nd edition hard covers) works just fine if you get it coil bound at a office/printing store.
In an ideal world you wouldn't have to do that but for a few dollars the coil binding (and a plastic cover) will make your relatively cheap rulebook last a lot longer.

$5 at FedEx/Staples/etc for coil binding will make your small book last forever. Yes it is an extra $5, but I will take the small book to carry around over a big book anyday.

It is funny, but I still use my freebie mini rulebook that I got months ago for regular games and it is still completely intact. I leave it open upside down on the table all the time and haven't had any problems. I am really quite amused by it at this point. A lot of the other regular league players have gotten their books spiral bound due to the gluing problems. I guess I got all the glue from my batch of books.

My book has also shown no signs of breaking, and I too have been using it since I got it. It does seem that there was at least one good batch of the mini rulebooks in the first run.
