Basicly I'm looking for a way to make a wet mud base, 25, 40 and larger and hopefully be able to use it in a diorama.
So is there anyone out there with a good tecnique for this? I'm looking for some typical muddy WW1 battlefieldish senario.

Thanks.

How about some of the GW texture paints with a bit of water effect as well?

Search for a P&M Blog called "Muddy Times" by doubleT. He does a great DKoK army on muddy trench bases. Plenty of shots for inspiration, plus he gives his method a few pages in.

Nah, don't waste your money on that texture paint. Either go with Vallejo Sandy Paste (they have other products of different texture too) or go to a craft store and buy some Liquitex Natural Sand. With both of those products you get so much more for your money.

I use multiple ways and i'll show you some bases (that are still wip but you'll get the idea and the outcome. Then its your choice what to do anyway Apart from mixing materials to make the mud you can use useless parts of leftover sprue's to shape the base a bit, then you'll cover it up with mud (saves materials).

What i used was a mix of pigments (just the colors you like) mixed with sand (different sizes but the smaller the better to give it texture and strength (to shape it up a bit more!), regular PVA glue and for a wet / glossy effect you can add a product called 'realistic water'. That's pretty much it

Edit: to make it look wet, or atleast wet'ter you can probably use ink of some sort as well, just make sure it doesn't get watery (more PVA).

Don't mind the face.

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

Thanks a bunch guys!

Kung Fu: I don't think I want the texture paint from GW, from what I have seen on youtube it does not look muddy enough for what I am looking for.
Oadie: Thanks for the tip, I took a quick look and the texture on the bases really looks like what I had in mind.
Scooty: What you linked looks awesome! I'm gonna have to take a closer look at that and the blog Oadie linked.

I have been thinking alittle bit and I feel the mudbased Death Korps of Krieg senario is a little bit overused, I haven't read the fluff yet but I'm not into that stuff.
Although when I was searching for some tecniques I stumbled upon a lot of DKoK pictures and they all seemed to be mudbased, so I was thinking... Maybe I should go for some kind of dessert trenchwork looking stuff? I still want muddy bases, I do love them, but I also want something different. So I'm still figuring this out, might make a blog about it so people can help me along with my progress, the idea for my DKoK now is a German Africankorps kind of look, I think that would go really well with these guys
