He has some lightning claw terminators, a few hammers, a couple dreadnoughts.
I'd like you to give this a look based on fluff and maybe provide me with some power selection advice. I'm pretty confident that Shriek is perfect for the Aspiring Sorcerers, even though it is random. Of course, I wouldn't mind getting Hallucination on everyone
This is my army list. Keep in mind that Doombolt will probably be switched out for Telepathy, and Ahriman is of course switching out his codex powers for a try at Gate of Infinity and failing that, two more rolls on Telepathy.
Ahriman
5 Terminators w/ Icon of Tzeentch, Power Axes
(x3) 9 Thousand Sons w/ Power Axe, Doombolt
Fateweaver
10 Horrors w/ Changeling
3 Flamers
9 Screamers
Nine units. Do I get a cookie?

Actuallyyyyyyyyyyyyy since I use Ahriman, the best part of my list is that even though Fateweaver is included, Ahriman wants nothing to do with him!
Such is the tragedy of the Thousand Sons.

What greater way is there to mock ahriman then to send him assistance from a god he despises in the form of a greater psyker then himself?

I like the list, though I personally am not the biggest fan of screamers. Just me of course, do what you want Id personally grab a daemon prince instead, give Fateweaver someone to fly around with

Good point with the prince.
Have you seen the new WD screamer updated rules? ~24pts, 2 W, Str 5 Ap2 Armorbane on the charge, 5+*?
They are win compared to before.

Ahriman's cost bothers me even more in the new edition.
We're paying points for five powers but only get three. Ahriman is 95 points more expensive than a two power Tzeentch sorceror (who is already overpriced) and all he gets is 1 warp charge and 1 extra power.

Guess they did lose it, huh.
Nitros, I'm not sure if our experiences have been the same with Ahriman, but I am confident that (for now) his 3 random powers are better than the 5 codex powers.
Sticking him with 5 terminators would have been laughed at in 5th edition, but now it's the best way to run him because it keeps him alive.

The only good experiance i had with Arhiman is when he turned a C'tan into a chaos spawn back in 5th, otherwise i have only used him once and he was pummled by a punisher since my IG friend dosnt like to use his exicutioner too much.

9 Screamers seems like major overkill to me. A unit of 5 will take down anything but a Land Raider or Monolith in one turn and will even kill 3 or 4 Hammernators. It is fluffy, though.

Good point, UncleMeat. Thanks.
I may start with 6 just to take advantage of two boxes worth of the new plastics. 9 may indeed be overkill.
I know for a fact that 9 is just super cool looking, but honestly I have my doubts about how things perform on the field. I just sort of assumed 5 would fail!!

Screamers are nice, but they are fairly fragile. If you can find a spot to drop them in out of LOS and then assault on the next turn, that is great. If not, another trick I have used effectively is to turbo-boost my screamers in front of a vehicle (usually a transport of some sort that my opponent needs to move). Now, he can either try to tank shock me (i.e. death or glory) or he has to stay put for a turn while he shoots my screamers to death.
They are not going to change the balance of the game dramatically, but they do have their uses.

Surely their 2 Wounds and Turboboosting 4+ cover save after deep striking makes them more durable than their pure codex version?

You can even deep strike them 1-2 feet away from fateweaver, preferably on the other side of an enemy squad. Turbo boost over the squad towards fateweaver to get into his 6" bubble, while doing 9d3 str 4 hits to something. With turbo boost simply being a move of upto 24 inches, it would be really hard not to make it back into fateweaver's bubble for rerolls on your 4+ cover.
Most other units are just out of luck if they scatter out of his bubble. You could run them to get back in, but then you can't shoot. I'd say screamers are just about the most survivable tzeentch unit now outside of the FMC circus.

As a Deathwing player myself, who faces deamons quite a bit. I'd like to add some things:
Screamers with their new S5 ap2 armorbane, Everything I have is afraid of them. But TH/SS termies have a 3+ invul. If your opponent is smart, one TH/SS will sit at the front to take all the saves, so I say, use the Screamers speed to get around to the side of the terminators and take out the other terminators that only have a 5+ invul.
Fateweaver is frustrating. I used to be able to pour fire into him and get lucky, but now that he is a FMC, I need sixes to hit and I just can't hit enough to even do one wound on him. Keep him Flying until you want to assault. Plan ahead where he will fly to help give your units maximum usage of his reroll invul bubble.
Thousand sons: their ap3 is great against marines, but against termies, who cares. I understand the need to keep them for fluff reasons, but don't rely on these to kill termies. but perhaps the psyker in each squad could still do some big damage.
Your terminators would kill mine easily if they all have power axes.
My only ap1 and 2 comes from RW assistance in the form of Landspeeders and bikes. a FMC vector strike followed by ?breath of chaos? easily kills land speeders probably dreadnoughts too. 1k sons could do some damage to the bikes.

Thanks for the 1st Legion input, friend.
If my friend decides to bring lots of TH/SS terminators, he will be quickly flooded with Thousand Sons in combat. I rapid fire and charge, hoping to punish anyone attempting to deepstrike near my lines and taking advantage of the 4+*.
Ah, Fateweaver. He is fun, and the FMC is useful. However, since I did away with all my transports, it makes sense that he would only be gliding 50% of the game. I'd like to have control over him since my army only moves 6" and cannot run (unless some sorcerer or Ahriman gets Gate of Infinity).
AP3 is just a bonus. The real terminator killer is the Psychic Shriek. Terrify, should I roll it, would definitely help keep me out of CC occasionally.
My Terminators do have Power Axes, but that's an even fight I'd say. If I somehow kept Fateweaver nearby, the saves are obviously better. As you know, the 4+* Icon of Tzeentch is relatively easy to pop and when it does, it reduces my effectiveness. That's a weakness that you would surely exploit, and I except my friend to attempt it as well.
Fateweaver requires armies to stay close to get max reroll goodness, but I am learning lately that spreading out and isolating my enemy is where I am strongest. Toe-to-toe units and I do ok. The idea is that if someone can table 9 Tsons instantly, they'll at least be stuck in the open after doing so.
Thanks again for the Deathwing stuff. You know what you're doing.

Im worried about you sayign you will flood him in combat. If he gets you in close combat without a ton of casualties before you will probably lose the game. Kiting and shooting him down until you cant kite anymore is probably your best bet. Make a wall of flamers just in case, 3D3 hits hurt in overwatch, especially after the 3 templates

the list looks alright, even though i am not very experienced with chaos, but i like using telepathy on my sorcerer as it seems to mesh the best with the Thousand son squads and seems pretty good
and i used to despise all of chaos and would go around thinking "everyone that plays chaos is scum"...and then i saw the thousand sons models...and tzeentch had achieved victory and wormed his way into my brain to turn me into a heretical fool! lol

there was a fair amount of both, but now that i see the light, i cant understand how anyone can follow the imperium when there are thousand sons models to be had and played with!!! luckily, i was never a fan of the space wolves, and after reading "a thousand sons" i have embarked upon a personal crusade to destroy them all, which is good because 1k sons love shooting MEQs like the SW's

tzeentch is pretty awesome, i would have started a completely 1k son army a long time ago, but i started when i was 12 and though you had to paint the guys like they were on the box, so i have a bunch of ultrasmurfs, then i moved to IG, and when 6th came out, i finally saw the opportunity to get my 1k sons started and hope to eventually get them to a full 2000+ army.
plus i need to change my avatar, it has been bucky for a while now, i am feeling something 1k son-ish on the way

Fair enough but the last thing some people expect is a bad CC unit to charge them.
Then they're mad at you for tying them up for 5+ turns because of an invulnerable.

if only they had access to fortune(which they should or at least ahriman should as he is of the corvidae occult) then they could be as annoying as jet-seers in CC tying up TH/ SS for multiple turns and causing much anger
