For my Hive Tyrant, I was thinking of using a Bonesword and lashwhip as well as a Heavy Venom Canon. Then Having Hive Commander for the use of Genestealers and Leech Essence and Paroxysm.

For my Carnifex, I'm using a set of twin-linked devourers and maybe keeping the scything talons. Should I change the talons for somethings else or keep it for CC?

Really depends on what your list is doing. You want synergy more than anything, post your list and perhaps we can suggest how best to kit them out.

All I need is a tyrant that's capable of attacking both ranged and CC

Never mind about the tyrant, I've sorted it out, not for the carnifex, I've already put twin link devourers on it, but I'm not sure for the other arms, should i go for CC or ranged weapons? My list contains genestealers, zoanthropes, termagants, trygon and maybe a lictor

For the Fex's go with 2 TL Devs if your looking for a shooting platform 12 S6 shots that reroll are nice. Especially with flyers around. A Pod is nice too as it will get you backshots on flyers.

If your taking stealers you should have a broodlord with them. The new psyker abilities are to good and they help to prevent them from getting hit with psker attacks. They can also play wound allocation games and issue chalanges. A broodlord with ScyTal, TS and Implant is death on foot to anything that doesn't have EW.

Zoans are still good. Don't be afraid to mix up the powers.

And if your running a lictor take Deathleaper. He is just that much better. Directed attacks, chalanges and being able to charge into cover just make him a monster. And you can nerf a psyker or warlord for the entire game and he is the best last turn denial unit in the game.

If you are running a flyrant you need to swap out his powers though. Otherwise you lose one of his shooting attacks.

rerolling ones to hit in close combat isn't something to swap for another 6 TL shots.

Yes it is. Double guns on the carnifex makes them much more dangerous right now than trying to use them for close combat. Same goes for the Tyrant; slap wings and double guns on him and send him off to cause havoc.

If you're wanting a land based Tyrant, you might as well just go with The Swarmlord. He may not have the 2+ save, but he does much better in combat and can get more pys powers. Stick him with Tyrant Guard and he will outperform a walking Hive Tyrant every time.

And also remember one set of scytals doesn't give you the blanket reroll, it just lets you reroll 1s.

I used dual scytals for fexes in 5th edition only because we needed 4s and 6s to hit vehicles. Now that vehicles are WS1, the right competitive build is 2x TL devourers.

It is fantastic in a pure shooting role, the twin linkiness makes them very good for snap shots, which means flyer shooting and overwatch.

A three carnifex brood all with 2x TL devs puts out 11 hits on average for snap firing. That is a dead nightscythe/voidraven every turn.

A carnifex with no CC upgrades is still a fantastic CC option. Particularly when joined by one or two primes. Primes can abuse look out sir rules to spread wounds around the unit when not in challenges.

Just for what its worth. I like dual tl devourers on my hive tyrant. If I want a choppy tyrant then swarmlord is my guy.

Agree with Shep hear. I think 2 Dakkaflakxes (double dev Carnies) + Prime all with Regen makes a great AA/Can opener base. Regen optional, but I run mine in a Swarmy/heavy psyker list and I tend to sell out for Invisibility/Endurance as much as possible. Invisi+Endurance+Regen is the most fun you can have with your bugs without having to cuddle afterwards IMHO .
