Got another one for you guys.

Fuegan's entry states that he makes close combat attacks as a monstrous creature. In the next sentence it then specifies how these act (2D6+5 armor pen and ignore armor saves).

A friend and I were wondering how best to interpret this.

My first inclination is that the specific overrides the general and as his entry specifically states how to use his attacks, that would be the way you play it.

However, the BRB also states that some older codices write out rules long hand, but that they are referring to a rule covered in the BRB. Sine an MC now has different rules, which takes precedence?

My friend is making the argument that as he makes attacks as an MC, he would then have AP2 attacks and be able to Smash Attack.

What say you fine folks?

Been asked before. Most have agreed to replace the "attacks like a Monstrous Creature" with "has the Smash special rule" (possibly HoW as well).

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Nice, thanks.

Sorry for the repeat question.

Being a monstrous creature provides nothing in the way of attacking. Smash is a rule they get, but it's not something only they get, so it's clearly not innate to monstrous creatures.

It does say he ignores armor and rolls 2d6+5 penetration, so it still does that.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

I agree with DarknessEternal. The bit about codices writing out rules longer-hand doesn't apply here, since it specifies particular rules which differ from those in the rulebook and therefore override it.
I do have to say that if it weren't for this, then Fuegan would be able to make use of Smash as the rulebook states that monstrous creatures can do so, and he would count as one.
