Ok I had an odd situation arise in a game today and I'm wondering how 6th edition should handle it.
It's my shooting phase and I fire a large blast weapon.
The blast weapon scatters and lands on an ongoing assault.
The blast weapon kills everyone on my opponents side involved in the assault. My unit survives. What happens next?
Can my unit now shoot? It's still in the shooting phase.
Can my unit now assault in the assault phase? I won't be engaged at the beginning.
Do I make a consolidation move?
We didn't spend an exhaustive time searching the rules, but a 10 minute search didn't really reveal any useful 'definitions' around being locked in combat, when that state is determined, when it can end, who is allowed to shoot in the shooting phase etc. But I could have totally missed this stuff.
In the end we just diced it, but I'm curious what is the 'correct' way of handling this. Please help dakka community.
