I'm going to whip up a batch of craters/rubble piles for exploded vehicles, and I'd like to make them in a variety of sizes so that they can correctly replace a multitude of different vehicles.

I'm looking for the length and the width, and the following list includes the vehicles I'd most appreciate information for:

- Predator
- Land Raider
- Chimera
- Leman Russ
- Falcon/Wave Serpent
- Defiler
- Hammerhead
- Battlewagon
- Trukk

I only play Tyranids, so the only stuff I personally have accurate analogues for are Dreadnought bases or the large flyer bases.

Thanks in advance!

Look at the trays provided by KR or Battlefoam.

Battlefoam has printable forms to design custom trays. Almost every vehicle will be there, if not all.

How exactly would I do this?

Like, I can find the pages on the Battlefoam site that show the pre-cut tray shapes, but I can't see any means of converting those into actual numbers.

You're just looking for the footprint and height of the models?

Just measured my Eradicator and my Devil Dog.

Devil Dog (so Chimera more or less) is (approx) 4 3/4" long, 3 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" tall including the turret.

The Leman Russ is (approx) 4 3/4" long, 3 1/1" wide and 3" tall including the turret

I wouldn't need the height, just the footprint. My plan is to average the length and width of each vehicle, and then make a roughly circular crater that corresponds to that figure.

Edit: Thanks for the numbers, Ross. My main opponent is an IG player, so having Russ and Chimera sized craters are my top priorities.

Also adding some Ork vehicles to the original list.

Just in case you ever fight a Necron player, I can give you Necron vehicles.

Monolith is a 6x6 footprint
Ghost / Doomsday Ark is roughly 3x9
Triarch Stalker is roughly 5x5
CCB / Annihilation Barge is roughly 3.5x3.5
Night / Doom Scythe is almost a complete circle with an 8" diameter

Also, Devilfish are 6.5x4 AFAIK

Experience is something you get just after you need it

Use this link to get the shapes to scale:
http://tray.battlefoam.com/tray.html
Then print them to scale. Instant crater templates....

It's what I'll be doing when I get time.
