So the New Private Messages have a (1) beside it but there are no actual messages in the inbox though

Have you recently read the message and it still shows as (1)?

If so, you might try hitting the refresh button on your browser or holding down [Control] and and hitting refresh. It's likely a cache issue.

Still happening or has it been fixed since the site was restarted last week?

it's been fixed a while ago thanks for the help though
