Lone wolf

Split wolf guard amongst gh squads to allocate wounds. Hb long fangs advance with MoR, everything else holes up and pick fire lanes. Plasmas decimate rerolling get hot, and lots of twin link fire. Lone wolf hunts any annoyance, and left over wolf guard baby sit the hblf.

is this a fun list or a competitive list.

to make this a competitive list i think a few changes could be made to the long fangs and hunter squads.

the long fangs are good i love the plasma unit but there are more effective builds.

what kind of feed back are you looking for on this

Competitive is my focus. Feel like this is a decent all comers list and I have taken into account that some games heavy score.

it is a decent list but there are things that can be improved:

the long fangs are decent but the plasma cannon unit will atract a lot of fire i would try the loads out i use:

6 long fangs 4 missiles 1 plasma cannon.

3 squads of these will save you 25 points.

the vendreads still dies to glancing hits and the assault cannon means it has to get close so i would recoment the rifle normal dread saving you 50 points.

the wolf guard should have combi weapons and a fist. saving you 20 points

the hunter squads are carrying a bit of unneccessary baggage, take off the power weapons and plasma pistols and replace the fists with MOW. this saves you 80 points

i am assuming the lone wolf has TDA SS CF.

the land raider doesnt seam to fit with this army so i would either drop it or put some hard hitting stuff in it AKA termie wolf guard.

4 razor backs that basical fire 4 twlc shots costs you 300 points there is alot better you can get for 300 points

i have saved you 175 points or 425 if you drop the land raider

you need an objective holding squad so either take a razor back with a small squad to fit inside or a small squad with a wolf guard with a cyclone to give some fire power.

your list is pretty good but it can be improved if you want it to be.

are you wanting to keep the land raider?
are you wanting to kepp the razors?

if you take some of these points on board i will help write a nasty 2k list,

I feel the Wolf Priest would be better off leading a Grey Hunter pack midfield. Giving you a Fearless scoring unit is nice, plus the more shots the more likely you'll get to take advantage of Preferred Enemy.

That's a lot of Plasma Cannon by the way. Probably a little overkill. 1-2 in a squad is generally enough. There isn't all that much 2+ Save units outside of Grey Knights.

Don't really agree with bringing Razorbacks that no one can use either. They're too fragile. I'd drop one and just keep the 3 for the Long Fangs if you really want.

I believe Plasma Pistols are a waste of points. They are just too expensive. I'd drop them. I'd also drop the Power Fist to a Power Weapon, if not entirely. I'd recommend a Power Axe if you can model it as such. S5 and AP2 is good enough and you get an extra attack for cheaper.

What is the kit on your Lone Wolf?

If you are on foot you need Thunderwolves or Swiftclaws. I recommend the former for a foot list. The reason being, you just need to be able to respond rapidly to threats or to strike suddenly to openings. The only way you can is with one of those two units.

These are the models I have to work with:

4 razorbacks tllc
6 thunder wolf cav
10 ml long fangs
2 rhinos
Ven dread
10 gh w/ 2 Melta and p fist
20 unassembled gh
20 unassembled combat marines( with wolves bit and shoulder pads)
2 unassembled bikes
Land raider
10 scouts
5 terminators (disassembled)
20 bolter marines for conversions( with extra wolf bits)

I can't afford anymore at this given time as my throne of skulls dark eldar project takes precedence. So blowing money on anything more than 20 dollars in bits is impossible. What can we do with what I got assume I have the majority of the bits, as well.

This army ultimately will be utterly competitive but due to lack of funds I need to get 2k of ass whooping out of the listed models. I am a de/ orks player and wolves are a bit tough when both of my regular armies are super offensive, as opposed to the defensive/ reactive stance I am taking with my wolves. This is also the first use of power armor for me so forgive me for overkitting.

These guys just have a crazy amount of shiny guns. I couldnt resist.

Not sure what is in your bit box so can't really say what your options are with regards to the unassembled models. It looks like you have enough to work with though. I wouldn't want to make a foot list out of it though.

Grey Hunters (195)
10; 2 w/ Meltagun, 1 w/ Wolf Standard, 1 w/ MotW, 1 w/ Power Weapon (Axe)

Grey Hunters (205)
9; 1 w/ Plasma, 1 w/ Wolf Standard, 1 w/ MotW
Rhino

Grey Hunters (205)
9; 1 w/ Plasma, 1 w/ Wolf Standard, 1 w/ MotW
Rhino

Long Fangs (215)
6; 5 w/ ML
Razorback with TLLC

Long Fangs (215)
6; 5 w/ ML
Razorback with TLLC

Land Raider Crusader (255)

I'd want to try to run the above at least if I was you. Its only 1035. You need to add on an HQ at least, and you can fill in other things (cough, Wolf Guard! cough), but its a great starting point. It'd be cheap to convert the Land Raider (less than $20 USD), and you can just repaint any already painted models to make the squad load out work. A single unit of Thunderwolves (don't know their loadout or if they are magnetized) never hurt either.

Vehicles may not be as good as they were in 5th, but that doesn't make them useless. Your AV14 Land Raider will be helpful in keeping some vehicles alive as well.

A shame you didn't have more bikes. one large Swiftclaw squad acting as outriders for a fully mounted army would be fun.

That would definitely be an idea. And that is nearly the bare bones structure I intended to use but I wanted to add another razor back. I felt that some tough as nails scoring units would make for a lot of fire lanes and some very nifty play.

If you want to take the Land Raider, I recommend an Iron Priest with saga of the Iron Wolf. (65 points) throw in a couple of thralls and attach him to that grey hunter unit that goes in the LR. He extends the life of the LR and adds a nice power fist to the squad. A couple of thralls could add some HB's or MM's too.

You could get an Iron Priest on ebay for around $10.

2500 pts
