So I played a few games with a friend who was playing Chaos Marines with Chaos Demon allies. I can not remember the name of the HQ for Demons he had, but it's special rule said that the more units killed by his army the better "Follower of Nurgle" got. In the end his Chaos Plague Marines were getting a 3+ feel no pain roll. My question is are the Plague Marines considered "Followers of Nurgle"? He told me they are because they have the "Mark of Nurgle", but is that different than being a "Follower of Nurgle". Sure, I get it fluff wise, but is that how the rules play out with those as allies?

Epidemius or whatever?

Yes they have the "Mark of Nurgle", if I remember right there is a paragraph explaining what "followers of Nurgle" means.

I don't play it myself, but I do fight that sort of list often and I agree that its legal.

In the dark recesses of your mind...

Epidemius' Tally confers the bonuses to any model that is a daemon of nurgle or has the mark of nurgle, both friend and enemy.

Lost in Warp... again

It's actually right in the Daemons Codex - under Epidemius's entry. It allows any unit (friend or enemy) with the MoN to benefit from the abilities.

The only place where an argument could be made against (part of) it is in the description of Noxious Touch (a gift of chaos) which states "The Daemon and its weapons...". Which RAW means Plague Marines get Noxious Touch but can't use it as they aren't Daemons. RAI I believe they were meant to get it, but there is no mention of it in the faqs of CSM or CD.
