Reapers are fairly fearsome in the Mass Effect universe but wouldn't be that big a deal in 40k. Probably be on the threat level as a Tyranid Kraken-class Bioship.

My Armies:

2,700pts
2,000pts

On moon miranda.

They'd run into a door with 3 options that all lead to the same slowed end, game over

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

They'd be unable to comprehend the coloured explosion which results.

The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy.

Tyranids alone would wipe out both universes, judging by the fluff saying that only tiny tendrils of the hivefleets have actually reached the galaxy

I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

Some Throne-Forsaken Battlefield on the other side of the Galaxy

The Tyranids would devour everything, as they far outnumber the other factions in Mass Effect and 40K combined.

289th Descaal Janissaries: around 2kpts
(no games played so far)
Imperial Fists 4th company (Work In Progress)
Warhost of Biel-Tan (Coming Soon!)

I dont know if that kind of alliance could work out. Since when you say 40k folks Im going to assume your just talking the Imperium, Eldar and Tau which would pretty much be the only races that an alliance would be possible with. And that by Mass Effect you mean just the conglomerate of species and civilizations that joined under the Citadel.

Also the Reapers and Tyranids working together may seem plausible on the surface, but once you think about it it would not work out at all. Since both factions would be competing tooth and nail for resources.

Edit:
But just to run with the idea and assume that the alliances work out because the Inquisition for once shows some foresight and restraint and doesnt try to wipe out all the new Xenos... The technology is so different between 40k and Mass Effect. In Mass Effect compared to 40k everything is somewhat similar to a railgun since all ammunition is accelerated to something like 10% the speed of light on average.which at the very least will put a nice dent in meq armor. In 40k alot of weapons are energy based like the flashlight and pulse carbine which for the most part by-passes the shielding that is used in most cases in mass effect. As far as psykers go 40k has to worry about perils of the warp to use there stuff where as Mass Effect has the abilities since they were exposed to element zero. Since thier powers come from different sources it wouldnt be out of the question to assume that neither would be able to counter the other. And back to technology Reapers would be a greater threat than what Harriticus gives them credit for. Mass Effect space travel is more advanced than 40k, even without the relays, thier FTL is on another scale, even more so if combined with (albeit much slower) tyranids. Remember when tyranids attack the Imperium cannot communicate or warp travel effectively, the Tau are slow anyway, and the Eldar are unlikely to be the first ones to show up anyway with the whole dying race thing going against them. There is also the Reaper Indoctrination to consider as well which basicaly to me says, "Wow thats a nice Emperorer Class Battleship you have thier, mind using your friends as target practice?". On the flipside while Mass Effect has maneuverability and speed in space no denying that 40k has the blue ribbon for firepower. Outside of using asteriods as planet crackers there is not a lot you hear in Mass Effect about planet killing weapons.
