Hey all. I am a casual player geared more towards collecting but I still like to get in a game now and then. I have finally buckled down to build an Ork horde and pretty much just going with what I have. I am doing some trading here and there to finish up my horde but I had a thought and wanted to run it by the community here. Here is my current Ork collection. I have a Tau battleforce that I am considering running as allies. Still not completely up on the rules for that yet.

War Boss
-PK, cybork, BP, attack squig, TL shoota

Converted Big Mek w/SAG

4x Boyz Mobs at 30 boyz per
-2 shoota mobs, 2 choppa mobs
-all have Nob w/ PK, BP

10 lootas


I have boyz w/ rokits and big shoota but not sure if I want to include them. Planning to use big shootas in with my lootas. Also have 7 extra Nobs w/ assorted equipment and Ghazy.

Was looking at using the Tau crisis commander w/ Fusion blaster and Plasma rifle, 12 firewarriors w/ rifles. I also have 12 stingwings a devilfish, pathfinders w/ rail rifles and 3 stealth suits.

Is it possible to cobble a decent list from this or should I just keep collecting Orks?

Choppa boyz are seeing the short end of the stick in this edition.
I'd say just run them all as shootas, unless you are just determined to run a split role force of boys.
I'd get more Lootas.
I'd also do some more coverting on that Mek and set him up to run the SAG or switch it to KFF. Magnets are nice for that.
Running a horde like this, with a KFF is huge, as it's mobile cover, which you'll reall be glad you have since boyz have a 6+ save and hardly ever get to use it due to AP.

Working on getting more lootas. The boyz are simply what I have. I may swap choppas for more shootas after a couple games as I aquire them. I am considering convertine another mek w/ KFF when i finish my current projects. My main point of contention atm is does the Tau force actually help or should I worry about filling in more Orks?

Broadsides are a great addition to the Ork army as they fill our greatest weakness like a boss.
Regarding your shoota/choppa dilemma, And keep in mind that you SHOULD be able to "counts as" in almost any game you play. I mean, if your opponent is so damn stubborn that they wont let you count choppa boyz as shoota boyz I'd wonder WTF was wrong with them.
