Terrible idea, or workable?

Here's the thing, the Thunderbolt is a "ok" model but the Bomber is a really nice model, I can also get 3 Bombers for quite a bit less than 1 Thunderbolt, not the primary reasoning behind wanting a Bomber, but a good one none the less.
Poor quality FW models have put me off in the past (everything I bought at great cost was molded terribly) also whilst a rather odd thing to dislike about the models, none even look like they could ever get airborne, the Ork Mig... erm Bomber clearly does look like it could actually fly, I kinda like it, the thing looks pretty sweet, versatile too, I can build it as I please.

It looks like I could get 6 guns pointing forwards on the Bomber with a little effort and I can already envisage a paint scheme I really want to try.
I am just wondering what people think of using this? It won't come within 100 miles of a tournament, so that shouldn't be a problem, but is it likely to cause any upset if I use one in this manner?
The fact that the Bomber kit comes with a lot of options in missiles and bombs etc, sure helps too.

Anyone else ever tried using the Ork Bomber in the Guard? If so, how did it work out for you?

I will have to skip the pilot for now, but will keep an eye out for something I can convert at a later date to sit in their.
Then I have to choose between 1 or 2 of them, hard choice lol.

I'm the other way around; I think the Ork plane is cool but the Thunderbolt is one of my favorite Forgeworld models!

You'd need to do some heavy conversion work to make it look Imperial. As for a pilot, you could use the pilots or pilot heads from the Valkyrie kit, or a crewman from the Manticore or Sentinel kits. Look up Dave Taylor's conversion of an Ork Trukk into an Imperial truck, it seems to be what you're looking for!
