Hello there forum. Decided to do the whole forum thing as I'm getting back into wargaming. I used to wargame from 2003-2005, played Warhammer Fantasy and Mordhiem, but I gave it up as I was newly living alone and it was too expensive. Still it was fun as a teen collecting the Hordes Of Chaos for Warhammer, but after selling on some models and losing others in a flood I have literally nothing left any more... Well, now I'm almost 27 and I thought I'd go back to the game, I miss it. Boy has it changed though.

Anyway, I've got all the new 8th Edition Books now, got some of the 7th Edition books too for a few choice armies as well as the Forgeworld book 'Tamurkhan The Throne Of Chaos' . I'm a sucker for good fluff and background info. I'm looking at collecting my old favourites again; Chaos.

Aaaaahhh.... Archaon, Lord Of The End Times will raise again, only this time I'm planning an artillery army, just for a change of pace as it more fits the way i'd like to play the game. i'm also planning heavy conversions, Chaos is good for this, it'll let me be creative. I want to use the Chaos Dwarves that Forgeworld have produced, they're just beautiful models. So Dwarven artillery and shooting will make up the hammer, (they are special/rare options for Chaos now), with special themed Knights and Warriors as the anvil. Or at least that's the plan anyway. I'm a little sad to loose the options to use Daemons in a standard Warriors Of Chaos army now, but the "Chaos Host" rules in the Forgeworld book makes using a combined Warriors, Daemons and Beastmen army possible should I choose to expand, and Alliance games are now in the main rule book so happy days.

Already bought my first models. I got the standard Archaon model and found an Archaon on Foot model on eBay as my first model for returning to the hobby. I know his new profile for Archaon reduces Dorghar (his mount) from a 3 wound mount to a 1 wound mount so an on foot model isn't actually needed, but I may see if my club will allow me to use the old Archaon profile instead, they're usually OK with small house rules like that. Literally the only change on the whole character is his mount looses two wounds and he's gone from 855pts to 685pts, which just seems wrong somehow... Archaon's mount feels like it should be more than just a horse, it just feels far to flimsy for the legendary Steed Of The Apocalypse.

So yeah. Hello everyone, it'll be nice to meet you all. This is actually the second forum I joined but "The Warhammer Forum" has an uncertain future, and compared to this site has practically no-one online so I thought this would be a good place to look into. Anyone have any advice for someone returning to the hobby who used to play 6th edition, or perhaps some hints or tips on getting the most out of Chaos, please let me know.
