Tau, they actually use tactics and evolving strategy, fairly hard to argue with that.

Eldar.
From the time I first saw the models in 1987 to this day.

Shame the game sucks, really. The models will eventually get used again, but for now, they are having a break in the "cupboard of shame".

Old school 'Crons, hell yes souless murder machines who's only feeling is the need to kill.

New crons are still pretty cool.

Orkz are a close second, shortly followed (possibly chased by) a large swarm of 'Nids painted to look like the Geiger Xenomorph

I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn

I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

Orks. The ultimate winners of Warhammer 40,000...if you can't beat them, join them.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

Orks, they've got Style. It's not a pleasant, or aesthetically pleasing one, but "it gets under your Greenskin" and then you really just love their simple minded ferocity and cunning.

The Orks are indisputably 40k's iconic xenos faction, closely followed by the Tyranids (or really just the Genestealers). The Eldar have never really been developed sufficiently to distinguish them from their obvious roots in Michael Moorcock's stories, and the rest are simply deeply dull and derivative.

What English Assassin wrote, although I prefer Eldar over all else. Would be nice if the next codex developed them and further distinguished them from Elves in Space (which they are not - or maybe it should be "which they can become so much greater than").

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

Orks, cause they're the army I play, and they give the 40k universe some much needed flavour away from the Imperium. They're also a great as the traditional 'barbarian hordes at the gates' type villains.

also worth a mention are the barghesi, who hang out in the Ghoul Stars (I think?), and are always described as "hyper-violent". Now imagine what's "hyper-violent" within the context of the 40k universe. Would be interesting I think

It doesn't bare thinking about, as the Dark Eldar are pretty violent and sadistic, and the Imperium knows of "Khorne" if these guys are worse, then I have no Comprehension of how you can be more violent than Khorne.

EDIT -Found this online....It's Khorne's doing sounds like he copied the Emperor, instead of primarchs he got Barghesi. It kind of figures...

The Barghesi are a race of hyper violent warriors. They are humanoid, although they have wolf-like fur, heads and claws. Their fur ranges in tone from a copperish colour to a dark, bloody crimson.
The Barghesi were created eons ago by Khorne drastically altering the evolutionary pattern of life forms from the planet Haemos, near the Eye of Terror. Khorne infused the still simple organisms with parts of his own essence. These predecessors to the Barghesi were similar, but relied heavily on warp energies to survive. As Haemos slowly drifted away from the Eye, the Barghesi’s need for warp energies decreased over generations. Once the planet was no longer in the influence of the Eye and had fallen into the orbit of a nearby star, the Barghesi flourished and evolved into their current form.
Once they had developed warp travel, the Barghesi travelled around the galaxy, slaughtering and pillaging. For about 4 millennia, the Barghesi were Khorne’s main fighting force. However since the Horus Heresy, they have become somewhat subsidiary, often waging their own wars with other races. Despite this, the Barghesi’s religion still requires them to dedicate every battle to their creator.

I'd have to say Orks as well simply because it's a FUN army to build and not as tedious as some others like the old school necrons.... talk about BORING.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer the old fluff, but painting and building an army is much less than thrilling...
