Sorry if this has been covered but I did a quick search and it seems that most posts are about crashes and reserves.

I just want to make sure that I am reading the NNS rules correctly.

NNS is a Flyer but does not have Hover rule.
NNS is a Dedicated Transport for a few Necron infantry units.
NNS can carry Jump Infantry and JetBikes

Now as I understand it, only units that can claim the NNS as a Dedicated Transport can start the game "Embarked" in the NNS.
However since the NNS does not have Hover, then it can never have a unit "embark" once it enters the game.

So the way I see it the NNS can only ever carry those units that claim it as a Dedicated Transport and start the game "embarked" on it, is that correct?

If you've seen stargate atlantis they're like the wraith dart, beaming out stuff as they zip by.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

Or it is a built in restriction for a pretty awesome dedicated transport. You know, either way.

That when the rules for the Night Scythe were created they knew about how 6th was going to shake out and made the rules intentionally restrictive since it already had a lot of advantages.

I mentioned this same issue in another thread and was notified of this and felt I should pass it on that there is a spearhead formation that allows dedicated transports to be taken as heavy support instead, allowing "any" necron unit to start the game on board the nightscythe.

So why allow for Jump Infantry and Jetbikes to be transported if they can never embark on the NNS?

Wait so NNS can/has to disembark units while zooming? WTH no one else can :(

3000pts 30 wins 2 draws 12 loses

5000pts 13 wins 1 draws 9 losses

WoC "where the points don't matter" 6 wins 0 draws 4 losses

Things my Giant has pocketed for later in AoS: 1 zombie, 2 spirit hosts, 1 banshee, 1 zombie dragon, assorted phoenix guard

Did you read Kevin949's post?

Also, you realize you can attach independent characters to units of Warriors embarked on a NS, right? Including destroyer lords?

Storm Ravens can with BA.
IG can with grav shoots.

So that is most transports. Necrons are the only ones who can do it without deepstriking though.

I did read his post but am unaware of any such formation/rule that lets you take NNS as a heavy Support. I would be happy to read up on it, if Kevin949 can provide a link or direct me to the resource he is mentioning.

Also the Necron 'dex makes it clear that Jetbikes can be "transported" in the NNS but there is no Necron HQ unit that is also a Jetbike unit type. I believe the 'dex was referring to non HQ units as well in that rule. Which right now is meaningless with respect to non HQ units.

It is not unusual for some rules to seem meaningless but to be intended on covering situations outside of general play.

Sisters of Battle rhinos don't allow Terminators to embark on them. There are no terminators in the SoB army and you can't board an ally's transport in 40k.

It is very possible that the Jetbikes thing was left in there for 5th edition with the knowledge that it would be useless in 6th. It is also very possible that it was put in under the assumption that the Codex would not be updated for another 10 years and things might change between now and then.

ah ok, there was some discussion a while ago about whether they could, I suppose if the crons can that means everyone else can to. As I run the GK raven I haven't had the speciific rules FAQed, but my mates don't mind me using the BA rules as they are the same as GK they just have a different name. Still annoying that it got missed of the FAQ as won't be able to play that in GW.

"When selected as part of a spearhead, dedicated
transports count as Heavy Support units instead, and
therefore are selected without a transported unit."

Halfway down the "spearhead formations" page.

It is a specific BA rule "Skys of Blood" or something like that. Jump units can deepstrike anywhere along the path of the Storm Raven. Its in the BA FAQ.

Very debatable.
The FAQ removes the restriction for it moving over 6", but not the restriction on Zooming.
